So I will get this out right now. I am meticulously organized in life, and it transfers over to my Facebook page. I keep an Excel list of people on my friend's list so that when my friend number jumps around, I can quickly find out who deactivated their page, deleted me, etc. Judge me if you want.
My problem is this. My Excel file has my friend count at 395, but Facebook says I have 396. This bothers me to no end. It's like my checking account being off by a penny, or misplacing a tupperware lid, or when my daughter loses one of the letters on her alphabet puzzle. I know for a fact it's not somebody who has deactivated their account, because when that happens, their icon still remains visible, it is simply replaced by a grey silhouette until they decide to reactivate it. In fact, when I go to my friend's list, there is simply a space where a friend would/should be, but yet there is nobody there. I have this screen shotted below.
Does anyone know wtf this is and how I get rid of it so that my true friend count reflects the correct number?

i have a good feeling your "true friend count" is a number much smaller than this8/15/2012 5:22:53 PM |

Oh snap. Didn't see that coming.
Yeah I would agree.
But I would also argue very few people in this world, if any, have 400 people who are really friends. I'd say that, when it comes down to it, there are probably 2-3 people I would really classify as true friends. the rest are just hang out buddies, family, and acquaintances.
But for real Jeepin4x4, sick burn. 8/15/2012 5:26:30 PM |

That shit annoys me as well. But I don't have an excel file. 8/15/2012 5:28:53 PM |

Something similar happens with business "like" counts. Facebook will tell me one number, and a widget that pulls the number of people who like __ tells me one more person than Facebook says (or maybe I have that backward). But it's fairly consistent. And I don't actually care. 8/15/2012 5:49:48 PM |

Skwinkle's post makes me wonder if it is ever ok to say/type the word backwards?

Yeah I take .5 seconds to write a name down when someone decides to friend me. Obviously I have some serious issues.
Or it could be that, I am in the military and get deployed a lot and can't get online at all for many months at a time. A lot of my friends are also in the military, and during one of my deployments, one of them got killed. I obviously would have known this had I been here, but unfortunately I was not. His Facebook page was deactivated and I didn't even find out until several months after returning. Had I known his page was gone, I would have definitely known something was up, but I didn't.
So yeah, obviously I must have something wrong with me to want to maintain some kind of continuity from the day that I basically fall off the earth until I resurface months later. 8/15/2012 6:21:26 PM |

Seriously, try the link I posted... it's a Greasemonkey add-on - not a Facebook app. 8/15/2012 6:30:38 PM |
