I have applied to the Distance Ed side of Graduate School within the Civil Engineering Department. At least one other person that I know of as well as myself have yet to get a response back as to whether we were accepted into the program or not. The other person I know who has not heard anything actually applied for the on campus section. I have already taken 4 classes as a NDS student and am carrying a 4.0 (needed to prove my ability to do graduate courses because my undergraduate GPA wasn't the best.) I sent the contact listed on the website an email on Monday to see what the situation was and have yet to hear anything back. I am in quite a dilemma because only 4 classes will transfer from NDS to Graduate school so I am only wasting my money if I take any more classes until I get a response from the college. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Has anyone else applied for graduate school within Civil engineering and either heard back or not? Any advice on the next step I should take. Classes technically start tomorrow though the class I want to sign up for doesn't start until the first week of September. 8/15/2012 8:08:07 PM |

Contact the program in question. As I understand it, you should have gotten a yes or no by now. Every now and then, things like rejection letters don't get sent out. Contacting the graduate school would be a good idea as well. 8/15/2012 9:44:29 PM |

I have checked my application online and it says it is still under review. I just thinks it's funny that my friend is having the same issue I am. I have contacted the person who I had received all correspondance with hrough the application process Monday but haven't heard anything back. Is there anyone else you think I should contact?

Does the department have a secretary, a chair, someone in charge of admissions, or anyone else who might be a common go to person for questions? Or if not that a college dean's secretary. Seems late in the game not to have heard either way. Sounds like there is an oversight in the process, either electronically or a human error, but either way it'll probably take time on the phone with a live human to get it straightened out. I'd reach out beyond your regular contact at this point. 8/16/2012 1:45:42 AM |

Because classes are starting, this is a stupidly busy time of year for a university. You need to call if you want a timely answer. After the graduate school, calling the department's staff member who handles graduate paperwork would be a good option. 8/16/2012 2:44:14 AM |

just start applying for grants for whatever research you want to do. When you get a phatty sack of bills from the gubment and ask the graduate studies coordinator (is that a title? who gives a fuck) to endorse it they will be impressed

No one actually goes to grad school to learn, they go so they can get a degree which will increase their salary range. 10/6/2012 5:27:08 PM |
