What is sad is that people really think like pryd.

Why would we hang the president in effigy? What would that accomplish, other than make a lot of people look stupid.

theres no reason to get together to nominate a candidate anymore

theres better things to do than shut down surrounding businesses and spend a bunch of money on bullshit and bravado

There is good reason to get together to nominate a candidate.

There is no reason to get together to watch a scripted and fake show that forces a nominee on us.

Democrats: Romney outsourced jobs at Bain!

Republicans: Romney created jobs at Bain!

There's got a be a happy medium here. With as many companies on which Bain had an influence, I'm sure some jobs were cut/offshored, and some jobs were created here. I don't understand why people lose all common sense when it comes to political issues. It isn't just black and white - there's got to be some grey area.

Your entire argument [in this case] is fucked.

No Republicans try and say he created jobs at Bain. They say he created jobs in Massachusetts.

But in general, the black and white thing often rings true.

AHA, I don't understand.

So far, it's just a bunch of Republican governors talking about how awesome they've been doing since the economic crash. Then saying that we need a change, and Mitt Romney is the guy for the job.

I don't think they want Romney to win.

I've heard plenty of Republicans try to make an argument that Bain either created or saved jobs. And I buy that, but I buy it just as much as I buy that Bain outsourced as well. It did what it could to make money off of poorly managed companies. If that meant saving the company, it did, if that meant selling off the companies' assets, it did that too.

Obama did some things right, he did some things wrong. Unfortunately, for me, what he did wrong was manage the economy the way he did. I would like to give someone else a shot. They can't do any worse, and I just don't see Obama's plan for the next four years fixing anything. Sure - raise taxes on the rich. But don't fucking beat that dead horse over and over again. If you're gonna raise taxes, fucking RAISE TAXES. On me, on the middle class, shit, raise it on the 50% who don't pay any income taxes.

Then work on other areas that can be trimmed. Defense? Cut it - don't neuter it, but trim that foreskin back a little. Entitlements? Cut them back as well. Energy? Stop wasting money forcing technology down our throats that isn't quite ready, and shore up the technologies that we can actually use right now that make sense. How about getting rid of the ethanol mandate?

There are so many things that can be done.

I'm a Republican, I've made that pretty clear, but there are a lot of bipartisan things that could be done to fix this shit.

Instead of worrying about the economy, who is a featured speaker at the DNC? - Sandra Fluke. Like I give a shit that she thinks she's entitled to birth control. Go to the free clinic if you need it that bad.

Sorry, I just got going and couldnt stop. This is way too many words for a chit chat post.

And to add something else - don't just raise taxes on the rich, because their accountants are smarter than you, and they'll just find a way around any % you raise their taxes. How bout amending the tax code so they can't get around it.

Really? Even with Romney's cherry picking of Bain investments the results are pretty weak. And of course his estimates don't consider the outsourcing/layoffs.

Like you've heard people vocally make this argument?

I'm not arguing whether he did or didn't create jobs, I'm just saying that I've heard my kind make the argument that he has.

And what the hell is this shit:

http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/28/autos/fuel-economy-rules/index.html?source=cnn_bin

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Stuff like this looks good on paper, but when you break it down to common sense, how can we possibly know if the technology will be available in 13 years to make an average of 54 mpg feasible? That 50% that don't pay income taxes...think they can afford a Prius today? How will they be able to afford whatever car gets 54 mpg in 13 years? There's no way.

And as far as immigration goes, I really don't care - whoever is president at the time is gonna pander to that demographic for votes, so it doesn't matter what I think.

Wow. Ann is reallllllllllllllllllllllly annoying.

Obviously the GOP has a women voter problem. And I don't think this lady is going to be of any assistance, despite her best efforts. Her whole speech is so transparent.

And this every 2 minute mention of the dance they met at is like Edwards with his "son of a mill worker" bullshit.

Some of the speeches have been awful. I don't think these people actually read them aloud before today. It looks like they were written by one person very quickly and passed on with no extra input or practice.

Anyway, I can't tell if I'm more intelligent than the people who wrote them or if I'm just more intelligent than who they are written for.

I think they are written as a collection of sound bites to be replayed, not as a speech in the whole. Even so, even as sound bites, some of these are pretty lame.

Also, they're screwing over the Ron Paul delegates. And shouting them down by yelling USA at them earlier.
