i have no problems with kids being interested in MMA, but it seems they would be better suited focusing on a martial arts discipline and easing in to MMA once they're a bit older. They have to wear all that gear, and aren't even allowed to strike the head at all.

it's so watered down they aren't getting much real experience.

I would have been national champ. I was 3rd in the US for youth TKD and was well versed in aikido and hapkido and by 14 was a varsity wrestler. lucky kids these days
