Searched and was surprised that no one else has posted this up already.

The project leader and a number of other guys from this small startup studio are from the original Total Annihilation RTS series and have been a part of other big name RTS games in the past. Looks really cool; basically TA + Spore had a baby. Interested to see how well they can make this game completely funded by the fans.

I thought most of TA guys went and made Supreme commander 1 and 2? I love both games. I'll have to try this.

I posted about this in the kick starter thread in tech talk. I'm backed at 20 now but might go in for 40-50 soon.

^^ not the same company but many of them they made supreme commander 1. 2 was an abomination.

^ kick starter has the release date set at next July. But since they don't have a publisher They could obviously push this back as far as they needed.

Up to 1.43 million with 5 days to go.

Passed stretch goals for naval, orbital, and gas giants.

Upcoming stretch goals are metal & lava planets at 1.5 million, and a Galactic war campaign at 1.8 million.

5 hours to go and they just topped their last stretch goal of 2.1 million. Since the last post they covered Galactic War, Full Orchestral Score and the last was a Planetary Documentary on the making of the game. Hurry up if you want to get in on this as it ends at 3:20 this afternoon.

Game is shaping up nicely, and they are going to release the alpha to people who have already purchased in early June.

Yea I have been following this and am very interested in it. I tossed them $20, so I get it when it releases. Do not think I get early alpha/beta access, but I am fine with that. As an RTS fanatic, I am definitely looking forward to this.

I think Ive beta for it.

Will be weird with a round map. I dont think anyone has ever done that. From the few demos though, I wish they did them a bit larger.

An RTS is about unit balance. No balance, no game.

Got a Beta invite

Got in last night and started screwing around.

This is easily the most complicated RTS I've ever seen. It's not enough I've gotta manage units and production on land, sea, and air.. but now I've also gotta manage it in SPACE too. Ugh.

Here is a good video of a 7-way FFA, but with some special rules agreed upon before the match. Gotta rush to go orbial before any other units are built, gotta relocate off-planet, etc.

Compared to Supreme Commander 1, how much more complicated would you say it is?

Not everything is implemented yet in the beta, but its easily probably 2-3 times more complicated just because there's more of it; plus micromanaging is going to be a bitch when you start controlling multiple planets. I'm really looking forward to their army vs army muliplayer ability like they showcase in their June webcast. Multiple commanders commanding the same resources and military so one team can fight on multiple fronts.

I'm kind of tempted to contact them and do some interviews with them since I now have media credentials. This is the most anticipated game on my list right now. I haven't been this excited about game development since HL2 days.

The orbital stuff is tricky. It's hard enough concentrating on what's happening on the ground/water/air, but then you've gotta constantly be keeping up with what's in orbit, has your opponent moved off-world, etc.

This is compounded by the lack of a finished UI. The interface works, but it's not very user friendly, and from what I've read on the forums is still in it's infancy. The controls "work" but they're all still awkward and buggy.

So yeah, it's a level or two in complexity above where SC1 was at. While the beta is playable they've still got a ways to go to finish it.

yeah, but considering they've only been working on the game for about a year up to this point, its pretty impressive.

oh absolutely. I'm a big fan so far, I'm just acknowledging that some parts of the beta are still being worked on.

I really can see this game being pretty awesome for MLG. Provided they get the UI's working.

Friend of mine and I played a 1v1 yesterday and had a blast crashing big blobs of units into each other. The moon-crashing code bugged out, and left 2 of our moons stuck in orbit, instead of crashing into planets.

I could lay out a long list of tweaks and improvements needed but hey, beta

I was able to log right in and download it. Barely a .5GB download, so it was done in just a few short minutes. Unfortunately RealLife ate up all my time last night, so I got it running, but I never got into a match itself to play. Hopefully I will have time this afternoon.
