Resident Evil is one of the few game series that I have to fight myself constantly with on picking up the day of launch. Normally I can wait for the price to drop on major games but it keeps drawing me in! I doubt this will approach the splendor of RE4 but I MUST HOLD OUT.

RE4 is the best game of all time for me. I will def pick this up at some point. And, I'd rather have the PC version.

I did not listen to this video in its entirety, but the comments say that there will be NO weapon upgrades, but there WILL be skills upgrades.

People CRIED about not being able to strafe in RE4. Now you can strafe, and either it makes the game suck, or since you can now strafe theyadded more challenge and that makes the game suck.

I played through Leon's campaign which I later found out was the best in the demo and it was horribly unimaginative. It's just more of the same shit. I switched it off when Chris Redfield was talking to the marines about dying for their cause.

Damn Gamespot SLAYED RE6, this first time in a WHILE I have seen a very highly anticipated game series shoot to shit, however I do go on personal experience when it comes to games.

The author of the GS review spends most of his criticism bashing the quick time events and cutscenes. It's a little difficult to take him seriously. The other reviews hardly mention either of those things.

Gamespot had some troubles with credibility when new management took over but videogame journalism has historically woefully lacked in REAL criticism. I think they've gained some cred here. I've noticed most websites are quicker to be harsh on Japanese games but if you look some of the more credible sites like Joystiq are down on this game. This is a gem from Destructoid.

Famitsu gave this game a 39/40. I'm a little surprised at how poorly this thread is doing; I was expecting this game to be fairly huge.

^ It seems like Japanese games are losing relevance more and more over here in the states. When was the last time a Japanese game was huge here? Not even the latest Zelda game generated much fanfare here. However, I think you are right with most of those points. Japanese game developers in my opinion have seriously regressed quality-wise over the past generation, especially Capcom. Oh, and closing Clover? Fucking abysmal.

And Street Fighter X Tekken was a big disappointment. It has not been a good year for Capcom.

The obvious solution is to revive Mega Man.

Capcom probably has been my favorite studio through the years. I guess in the end, Shinji Mikami was the man with the plan. Now that he is gone Capcom will never be the same. I've never played Mad World or Godhand. Probably gonna go back and play them in a few weeks.

I played the demo today, and I thought it was good The controls are what people are gonna complain about, they are a little clunky as one would expect, but not enough to turn me away from the game.

Ouch. I didn't realize Shinji Mikami was the creator of Resident Evil and directed the seminal part 4. Evidently after that game he jumped ship to Clover and we all know how that one ended. Yep, Capcom is fucking up.

@ShinAntonio: After MM9 and MM10 I WISH we'd see another Mega Man game. Evidently Kenji Inafune left the company back in 2010 and Capcom is butthurt about it and every Mega Man game in production was scrapped indefinitely.

I'm really enjoying this game. Having been a long-time RE fan, I'm not dissapointed in the least bit. I've completed the Leon campaign and feel like that really went after the RE1 -3 crowd with the slow tone and old-school zombies. I'm nearly finished with the Chris campaign and I do admit it's kind of a mix between RE5 and Uncharted. It's still been fun and the change in gameplay brings a nice mix to the game, considering each campaign is decent enough length to consider it a game in itself. I think the natural progression of any series, if it's successful enough to warrant this many sequels, is to get bigger and more epic. So, the biggest complaint about RE being more Michael Bay than ever is legit. If you're cool with that, I would recommend it.

The skills system in this game is dumb. The partner AI is retarded. Horrible QTE.

And yet RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time, so I will continue to give Capcom my money.
