go view your activity log and look at "searches"
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57518097-93/your-searches-on-facebook-to-show-up-in-activity-log/
Quote : | "Facebook is tracking what searches you've made and displaying it in your activity log, the company noted in a blog post today. In addition to any other activity tracked on your profile, Facebook has added search activity to your log (you can read the log by clicking the "Activity Log" button at the top of your profile). Facebook is rolling out the additional activity tracking in the next few weeks. Facebook was quick to remind users that the activity log is for your eyes only -- your friends don't get to see the log. But, the activities on the log have different privacy settings. You can set those using the icons to the right of each activity. "Just as you can choose to delete any of your posts, you can use the same inline control on Activity Log to remove any of your searches at any time," the post reads. "It's important to remember that no one else can see your Activity Log, including your search activity." The company declined to say if the new tracking would help tailor future search results -- Facebook doesn't share any details on its search or news feed systems, a spokesperson said -- but recording your search activity shows how Facebook is paying more attention to its search tool. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some media waves last week when he talked about Facebook planning to beef up its search product. Updated, 3:05 p.m. PT: with a comment from Facebook." |
this will not end well.

the fact that it's accessible is obnoxious. 10/24/2012 12:13:23 PM |

accessible by you or accessible at all? i'm not surprised whatsoever that fb is keeping track of searches, in fact i'd be surprised if they weren't. the fact that they are showing your searches back to you, is a bit strange. i'd guess most users don't care to see their own search history, and the typical user who doesn't know this happens will only be likely to freak out about it and tell their friends fb is evil 10/24/2012 12:55:14 PM |

im not interested in Facebook maintaining a visible and user facing record of the profiles through which I creep. Sure, it's only visible through my account, but all it takes is the wrong person looking through your search history even in an innocent way. It would be nice if there was an option to always clear searches, akin to private browsing options on internet browsers. 10/24/2012 3:15:25 PM |

You can, it just requires you to remember to do it. 10/24/2012 3:24:06 PM |

That's quite a vapid contribution you've just made to the thread though, no? Because I clearly acknowledge that I can go through the convoluted process of clearing a search history every time I utilize the search feature on Facebook. By clarifying that I would be satisfied with an option that automatically cleared the searches upon exit, akin to the "always browse privately" modes available in the various browsers, I'm very clearly manifesting my preference that I find the process egregious and typical of Facebook's ham-fisted and as, qntmfred put it, a bit strange, and ultimately invasive to the way that many people utilize the site. 10/24/2012 3:47:50 PM |

and on top of it all, I bet it doesn't even erase your search history when you click "clear searches"
it probably just hides it from you, but Zuck still has it on file in case he needs to blackmail you] 10/24/2012 4:39:17 PM |
