Anyone playing this? It's open beta at the moment, and kind of buggy, but still fun to play a modern MW game.

i got into the closed beta a month or so ago and its gotten progressively better w/ every patch. its fun when you get a good team, and really painful when you get a bad one. it really needs some pilot tutorials for everything.

unfortunately (or maybe not?) i havent played it much since there are like 4 or 5 really good games that have come out in the last month or so that i've been hopping between.

Yeah I got into closed beta some time ago, but was in the middle of building a new rig.

I've gotten on a couple decent teams, but for the most part, most matches unless you're going premade you're getting stomped. Still trying to put some time in on this game even though there's so many good games out right now.

i used to use the Thor and max out on medium lazers and 4jumpjets. blowin legs off like a boss!!!

This would have been awesome had I kept the ol' Microsoft Sidwinder Pro 2 joystick. I used a mouse in mercenaries with great success... It's gonna take me a while to get the hang of it again.

I got it up and ready to play, haven't done a thing yet.

I'm guessing you can customize the trial mechs? I don't care for their loadouts.

Can't do much of anything with the trial mechs. Gotta buy a mech. When you do that you start getting xp and I believe salvage as well. If you can manage to get in with a group and winning consistently, it probably wouldn't be too hard to get to the point where you can just use c-bills to buy mechs.

yea the trial mechs load outs suck.

so did yall just shell out some cash to buy mechs? collecting c-bills with a trial mech seems like a long haul.

Yeah, I did. The trial mechs work, but they're really not that great.

It's free to play, so unless you want to just purchase in-game currency, you have to grind it out.

I recommend buying one of the smaller mechs as soon as you can so you can start earning XP. The mech and pilot upgrades are extremely useful.

Also, don't forget that you can move equipment between mechs, so once you have a supply of weapons you like, you can move them between mechs until you have the cash to maintain all of your different loadouts.

I hated the trial mechs and did not look into getting started on my own. I was much more impressed with the Hawken beta and basically dropped MWO for Hawken. Of course Hawken is much more of an mech-FPS than a mech-sim like MWO.

why do all these universes have to get stifled and ruined by lawsuits and shit? if the owner is so superior, why cant they just compete for canonical rights with their "superior" story telling or graphics or whatever. i mean, there are 10 different vampire universes!!!! i don't see it hurting the artists, the public, or anyone else. I hate development hell.

Just started playing yesterday. Tried using a joystick, but I was failing miserably at the controls. So, like back in the MW Mercenary days, I went with a keyboard/mouse setup and now I'm doing decent...

Like I said, the stock loadouts don't particulary cater to my play style as a support brawler, but they do OK. I've got 1.8M C-bills saved up. Looking to get a HB some time later today and set it up for CQB. Did a lot of reading on the forums in regards to weapon pros/cons. Look forward to trying out a few setups!


Overall, not bad. Graphics are really awesome. I liked the feel of the game in MW4 Mercs, but I'm interested to see how this game pans out once everything is all said and finished.

Everyone's ping sucks. I'm playing with a 40-60 ms ping, most are at least 3 digits. I don't know how they play with that kind of latency. It's annoying missing a shot when people skip around.

Hunchback is awesome. Swapped the AC20 out for two AC5's. It does MUCH better now on the battlefield. 2 AC5 in the RT, 3 AC5 ammo in LT, ML in each arm.

Went heads up vs an Atlas and managed a KILL! I was surprised that I lived long enough to pelt away at him and had he been a better pilot, this would not have been the outcome. It took like some ~120 rounds of AC5 (~60 from each gun). That was a glorious feeling.
