my car was stolen the other day and when the police recovered it it reeked of smoke terribly. Among the trash was several empty packs of cigarillos. My car smells so bad gives me a headache when I drive in it if I don't keep the windows down. I don't feel comfortable put my 11 month old daughter in the car because of how bad the car smells. Can anyone suggest a good detail shop that will that can remove the smell not just use products covered up. I work in Fayetteville but can go to Raleigh to if there's a good shop there to be recommended
thanks guys

chlorine gas, as was mentioned in brandon's detail thread, where you asked about this.
either make it yourself, or go to a shop and buy a kit. 11/8/2012 2:17:59 PM |

Insurance will cover a cleaning so I would rather have it done professionally than me get a Darwin award trying to make chlorine gas. Thanks for the info though. 11/8/2012 3:21:21 PM |

holy shit, you got a kid?? days gone by... you still got that sega saturn?
I've done the chlorine gas thing, but I feel like it only helped because the smell was generated by something living (mold/mildew/bacteria) and the gas killed that. I'd try a shampoo and deep steam cleaning as the smell in your car is the ash embedded in the carpet and upholstery fibers 11/10/2012 9:11:58 AM |

cigarette smoke is much worse than that. my parents smoked in the house. i kept a rifle at my dad's house and i could never really get the smell off the plastic stock. i scrubbed it with baking soda and all sorts of cleaners. never really went away. i had hunting clothes there that i never got the smell out of. washed them a dozen times in all sorts of deodorizers and detergents. nothing worked.11/12/2012 6:22:23 PM |
