This is the thread for all things Christmas.
Unfortunately, Raleigh has their Christmas Parade super early and it has now passed.
Any other good parades that you recommend? My lady friend is a Christmas Freak.
any shows, events, lights(meadow&walnut creek) and such that would be worth going to?

I have a large amount of ire for Raleigh doing their Christmas parade super early. Why not call it a holiday parade at that point, since it's before Thanksgiving?
(I'm really just mad because I wanted to march in it with my community band, and I had school obligations).

Yesterday.
Apparently the Clayton one is Dec 8th.

It's always the weekend before Thanksgiving so that they can re-air it on Thanksgiving Day and then again on Christmas. 11/18/2012 3:50:01 PM |

I asked a friend of mine that used to work for WRAL and he claims the reason they hold it the Saturday before Thanksgiving rather than the Saturday after is because it's sponsored by the Raleigh Merchants Association and they don't want the parade cutting into post-Thanksgiving shopping hours 11/19/2012 10:52:49 AM |

if y'all don't like when the $free parade is, maybe y'all should pay to put on your own 11/19/2012 10:59:30 AM |

Tanglewood Festival of Lights is pretty good (in Clemmons, just west of Winston-Salem), but not worth the drive from Raleigh. I am even considering not making the drive from Greensboro this year. 11/19/2012 4:23:05 PM |

^That is a pretty good place if you're nearby. I also remember the lights at McAdenville (west of Charlotte) being pretty good growing up but I haven't been there in 15-20 years. They start Dec 1st. From what I remember, the whole town is lit up for Christmas. But I may be remembering wrong. 11/19/2012 5:09:02 PM |
