Multiple albums that have been listed were top 15 records. Hell, Frank Ocean debuted at #2 and was on SNL. It's one thing to not know all these artists, but you don't get a pass for not paying ANY attention.

dan deacon - america
tame impala - lonerism

probably enjoyed dan deacon the most. also feel like hospitality flew under a lot of people's radar.

yes, VOD has been playing on and off for the last few years, always with the promise of a new album which finally came out in September. And it is awesome. Not your typical 'let's get back together and release something to cash in' on album. In fact I just saw them this past Saturday 11/24 in Brooklyn.

ANd scotieb, I like Slash's first solo album with the guest vocalists A LOT more than this newest album, but I still like it.

that's a name I haven't seen in a while

also, that Evens album is fine, but I don't think it merits AOTY consideration. it sounds exactly like you'd think an Evens album would sound, which is fine, but there hasn't been much evolution since their first (and my favorite) album

Eh, it's^ one of the few albums I was excited about this year, and i was very pleased. I think they've evolved just fine. Songs are more complex, lots of momentum switches, lots of good harmony.

I just can't get into new music like I used to, getting old and disillusioned i guess, but most of it just doesn't do anything for me. And the older I get, the more the "scene" and "hipsters" piss me off, and it's just tiring trying to keep up with all the new music. I did want to check out the david byrne/st vincent album, and was curious about the latest titus andronicus, but I haven't gotten around to getting them yet, maybe soon.

Off the top of my head i'm having serious trouble coming up with a single album from this year. I'd probably say Bastard Sapling if that shit wasn't only on vinyl / tape.

^the last time nofx was good was 12 years ago, and i even liked war on errorism... still wasn't a good album though

^basically about as good as any other album they've put out, except white trash and punk in drublic, which are the best, imo. besides, even if you approve all your messages, i still don't trust your tastes in music, although i do like some Pentagram.

lol, don't get me wrong, I understand releasing something on vinyl (tape not so much) but there is no reason not to have it on bandcamp or something. Just charge more and send people a booklet or artwork if thats what the whole album process means to you

I don't understand how this Kendrick Lamar album as a whole is rated so high. It seems really disjointed and random to me. The typical 2-3 good singles and a bunch of filler. That freestyle song is the worst crap i've ever heard.
