It's always worked like it's supposed to as far as I can tell. I mainly use it to play snes games or Soul Calibur on my iPad, but it does work on Android stuff too.

imo the ipad controller looks like a 1989 Tyco RC Car controller

the android controller doesnt look great , but it looks a bit more contoured to your hands

You picked the image with the iPhone connected, which doesn't really do it justice. You can take the sides off and replace them with rubber grips and then it just feels like a regular old school nes controller or whatever, but with extra buttons.

I just like it cause it doesn't take up any space at all in my iPad bag. It's not much bigger than an extra phone or battery pack.

what about true analog? which controllers have it and which dont? i've read that some do not provide true analog control (tilt the joystick a little bit to walk slowly, more to walk, all the way to run) but instead just full on or full off

what do you think i think it means? i think it means a joystick that allows a theoretically infinite number of possible positions (only limited by the number of bits of the ADC that receives the signal from it in the controller itself) rather than a non-analog joystick that can only be either at zero or 100% in any direction

On the iPhone side of things, there aren't a whole lot of programs that support the pad unless you're jailbroken. The iCP will emulate being an iCade so there are a couple of dozen apps that support that. I don't think anything natively supports the iCP itself. A couple of jailbreak apps (mostly emulators) do natively support it.

But...

There's a jailbreak app called Blutrol that does natively support the iCP and it is pretty awesome. It allows you to map buttons to emulated screen touches. So just about any app that you can control with on screen controls can be controlled with the controller. It doesn't do so well on games that don't have a fixed joystick, but you can still manage to make it work most of the time with a little tinkering.

As far as how it works on Android, I can't speak to that. It's a standard Bluetooth controller so I would imagine anything that is set to look for a bluetooth controller would work with it.
