Ordered my last pair of glasses, I have VSP insurance.
Anyway, my insurance covers up to D (Crizal Avance). The dispenser guy cant pull it up at the time, he says it covers only C (ALize).
We call insurance company. They say it will cover up to D (Crizal Avance).
Get the lenses today and call up the insurance company (VSP lab did the work, they say it was coded for Crizal Catagory C Alize).
What do i do call the eye doctor out? or have the insurance call him.
I asked for Crizal Sapphire, and thats what he said he was going to put on it. But I'm pretty sure that isnt whats on there since it doesnt have a blue tinge. 1/14/2013 8:01:06 PM |

not all sapphire is blue...
the sapphire in my watch is clear i assume your glasses are probably similar
but i don't know if that's what they really use or not... i'd love to have sapphire lensed glasses cause then nothing would scratch them. 1/15/2013 3:13:23 PM |

Thin-film coatings on the glass can change its optical properties (in this case, tinge), so if you got scratch resistant, anti-reflective post treatment or anything then it will change the color. 1/15/2013 4:16:15 PM |

I verified that they didnt put the crizal sapphire on the lenses.
I'm not saying that the coating or the lens itself is sapphire. Only that certain AR coatings have a green tinge, and some have a blue.
Most of the current top of the line AR coatings have a blue tinge to them (not saying the lens is colored blue, but light reflected off the lens has a blue hue). Example Crizal Sapphire and Zeiss Purecoat
The older coatings in general are green.
What at a minimum I wanted (What my ensure 100% covers) http://www.crizalusa.com/CRIZAL-LENSES/Pages/Crizal%20UV%20Portfolio.aspx
I wanted a minimum of the crizal avance, but they put on the crial alize. 1/15/2013 5:40:26 PM |

I always have issues with little "fractures" on my lenses that look like dry desert beds. The eye center always takes them back, no questions asked, and gets new lenses made. I'm thinking it takes about a week.
I have the same issues now but I'm too lazy to drop by 1/15/2013 9:24:46 PM |

That stuff sounds expensive. Does it make that much of a difference?
I buy my own insurance and didn't get vision coverage. I buy my glasses online at http://www.zennioptical.com - total cost (including shipping) was about $35 1/16/2013 12:08:22 PM |

^ +1 for zenni
for the lazy: it's a super cheap eyeglasses dealer, you provide them with your prescription and pupillary distance and they cut/mount the lenses for you
