Can someone explain this to me:

I normally have a good wireless connection at a certain spot at work. For the past two days ive got full signal and connectivity to the wireless as it shows on myy phone, but the internet clearly is not actually working. What could cause this to happen? It works at my house just not at work.

Along a similar vein at work, there is another area where i can get a signal and connectivity it seems, but when i try to log onto it it says "unable to connect" even though it is showing full signal and the name of the wireless network. What is even stranger is that there is a certain spot within this area that happens to be the only place where i can actually log into the network, once I log on i can walk all around the original wireless range where i previously wasnt able to log in and never lose signal. If i step out of that range i have to walk all the way to that one sweet spot to log back in.

is this something worth bringing up to the people in charge of the internet or is probably due to the structure of the building or the placement of the wireless equipment or what have you?

It's probably the wireless device itself is crap, combined with interference from the building too.

when i can connect to a wireless router but can't access the internet, simply resetting (unplugging for 30 seconds) the router usually fixes it

but the 2nd part of your problem kinda dispels that

thanks

i guess it is probably worth mentioning

^ those are two separate parts of the building and two different situations. the first scenario first happened today and its throughout the entire site i noticed, the second scenario is normal for that area of the workplace

Just throwing it out there but if my internet conks out (TWC) then my wireless router will continue to broadcast a wireless signal; I'll still be able to connect to it with all my devices but it just wont actually pull up an internet connection once its connected to the signal and authenticated the security keys. Maybe some of those access points have lost their wired internet connection or the security settings weren't remotely configured correctly but they still have power; I'd think the one place you are getting the connection is just within the range of another access point somewhere in the building. Ask IT if they can check it out.

^this
It sounds like there's a misconfigured AP somewhere nearby.
