My sister is listed as a driver in my household on my insurance. We have not lived in the same household or been on the same insurance in over a decade. I have repeatedly told my insurance agent (phone, email, automated system) to remove her, but she is still listed. (I JUST got my wife added to our insurance after 3 years of requesting)

How is this affecting my insurance? As far as I know my sister doesn't have any tickets or wrecks, but does insurance generally cost more for each person on the policy?

I think I'm going to change insurance agents... I sang "Just like a good neighbor, state farm is there..." and the bitch didn't even bother apparating over.

Changing agents is pretty pointless, change providers if you're having issues.

the thing is i haven't had any problems with the insurance... it's cheap and has good coverage. it's just the customer service in my agent's office that is terrible.

Can you not drop her online? I'm pretty sure I adjusted my plan on,one with State Farm.

(I eventually switched to GEICO though, about $500 less per year for better coverage)

I've never quite understood the point of insurance agents. Why have a middle man that you have to pay when you could just go straight to the insurance company for quotes, etc., especially now in the digital age? I only know of two of my friends that have agents, and they've both been screwed over by them in one way or another. One requested a quote for adding her boyfriend to her insurance, received a quote for an acceptable premium increase, and then when the change was made to the policy the premium went through the roof. No, her bf has a long and exceptionally clean driving record, so it wasn't that. When she asked her agent to reverse the change the guy said he ethically couldn't do that because her bf "might still drive the car." Needless to say she dropped that agent like a hot potato, and I think she switched to GEICO directly.

I would be careful about switching to GEICO. They might be cheap, but good luck getting quality work done on your car if you're involved in a collision.

I used Coates Auto Body with GEICO, and I could have picked anywhere I wanted. The customer service was great, I had an appointment and rental car waiting for me next day and it took no time at all to check in and look at the car and get my rental. GEICO provided me direct phone numbers for any follow up questions I had and allowed me to check on repair progress (they even called to check in that I was happy). No problems with customer service or quality that I saw.

[Edited on January 28, 2013 at 9:21 AM. Reason : Why do you think there is a quality issue with GEICO, you'll be at the same shops as state farm]

price it and see, just takes a few minutes.

For me State Farm couldn't come close even when I called my agent and told him exactly what the GEICO coverage and quote was, the best he could do was still a couple hundred more.

I have no problem disclosing that my opinion has been formed by my old roommate's experience with them (the body work done by GEICO's "shop" sucked ass). and by talking firsthand about which insurance co is best to the owner of a body shop I have used a few times. He told me they try to cut costs as much as possible and use re-manufactured/non-OEM parts if possible unless the car owner requests otherwise and/or makes a big fuss.

my statefarm agent owns and my coverage is super cheap as well (im in a different state though, so ymmv). if you like the plan, search around for a different state farm agent in your area and have them pick up your policy. make sure they know you're gonna go to a different provider if they don't fix it. also, if you haven't called your current agent directly then try that first. Anytime I need something I just call my agent and he or his office get stuff done. I don't have to deal w/ anything.

in my situation other providers cant get close to what im getting now cause of the discounts and what not, so your experience may be different. it would be worth checking around to see what other prices are regardless of if you can get a different agent or not just on the basis of saving $$

If you haven't shopped for a new carrier in 5 years then you're paying too much. Other than that, Smath is a dumb ass. Go whine somewhere else.

who the fuck are you? fuck off mother fucker. I spoke to my agent today and everything is taken care of.

yet another instance of asking simple auto-related advice and users trying to man up by slinging insults for no reason

and I wasn't whining. bitch.

"I received poor customer service so I complained about it on a not well known internet subforum instead of just going with a new agent/carrier years ago"

You're not asking for simple auto-related advice. Your questions were so stupid they actually hurt my brain to read. "Surely this person didn't go to State?" I thought and still hope.

heaven forbid people discuss automotive related questions on a not well known internet subforum forum that has gotten consistent use for well over a decade now.
