Was this evening's 60 Minutes interview an unofficial announcement? I wonder what Vice President Biden, Governor Cuomo, and Governor O'Malley made of this interview?

How old is hillary compared to other presidents?
It would be tactically nuts for hillary to announce now, but I think everyone knows it's clearly a possibility.

^^I think that's part of the reason why Biden is making noise about running. He's in his 70s, she's in her 60s, so it helps give her a little cover. Also maybe he thinks making noise about staying around DC longer gives him more political capital. But I'm quite confident he wont run.
I think future-Senator Cory Booker wants to run, but I think he'll be too new on the national stage to do it this time around.
The polling for the Democratic Primary for the 2016 presidential election so far has Hillary in the lead, followed by Biden, followed by Cuomo, followed by Senator Elizabeth Warren, followed by Russ Feingold, followed by Goveror Deval Patrick.
Brian Schweitzer and Mark Warner have consistently polled under 5%. Of course all polls these far out are next to useless, other than in providing a list of names people are thinking about as possible candidates to run. I've heard Kirsten Gillibrand's name thrown around a little bit too. 1/29/2013 1:50:20 AM |

Hillary is a crappy candidate, and in a regular campaign, I wouldn't want her to run because she'd probably lose. But there are just no other Democrats up to her level right now, and it would be stupid to throw the weight of the party behind anyone else when Obama and the GOP are practically rolling out a red carpet for her. Remember, electing someone, anyone, with a D next to their name is a substantive win all by itself, a fact which has been empirically proven:

That's what happens when your entire opposition has been taken over by extremists. Priority one is winning elections.

Hillary Clinton strikes me as an unlikable version of Frank Underwood. It is hard to put into words exactly what that all entails, but it is the best description I have. They are both clearly fake on the outside, but Hillary comes off as completely fake while Frank still exudes charisma. While corrupt and two-faced, I would also say that Frank at least still comes off as sincere in his plans to make things better. Again, everything about Hillary seems so insincere. (Yes, I know I am comparing a real person to a fake person).

It would be difficult to find a candidate that the Republican base hates more than Hillary Clinton. Wild horses can't stop the elderly Fox News watching contingent of voters from voting against her, and it frankly doesn't matter who the GOP nominates to challenge her from the perspective of that block.
Now, can Republicans pick someone that simultaneously fires up the base and doesn't completely disgust independents? Hard to say this early. 4/16/2015 7:47:40 PM |

I'm not for Cruz, but on that same token, a vote for McCain is pretty much a vote for a Democrat. I thought Romney was our best candidate in a while, and the extreme religious right cost us his presidency. Now the best we can hope for is Bush or Walker, and neither is ideal.
But how anyone could vote for Hillary, I have no clue. 4/17/2015 10:40:44 AM |

I am disappointed in Obama for not trolling the republicans more lately. That was some Grade A trolling on immigration, their bluff got called quickly, but not before they all went on record as being totally opposed to any type of meaningful immigration reform.
I expect him to rub their noses in the shit more for the last couple years of his presidency, the government shutdown, their stance that the ACA would destroy the country, all that is red meat he wont use bait the GOP candidates in to saying shit that can be used against them later. 4/17/2015 4:40:28 PM |

Since there's not 2016 Dem Primary thread - who are the potential Dem candidates insiders expect to emerge other than possibly Warren or O'Malley? unless Hillary Clinton totally kicks it into the stands here fairly soon, I don't think any serious contenders will really emerge, unless they want to just go through the motions to get their name out for a future attempt, which is a double-edged sword itself. 4/18/2015 11:44:18 AM |

Quote : | "Hillary Rodham Clinton used her clout as secretary of state to do favors for foreign donors who gave millions to her family foundation — and who paid millions more to her husband, Bill, in speaking fees
During Hillary’s four-year stint as secretary of state, the ex-president earned about $48 million of a $105?million speaking haul amassed between 2001 and 2013.
More than half of the $48 million was paid by companies in China, Japan, Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Cayman Islands, among others.
The author writes that “of the 13 Clinton speeches that fetched $500,000 or more, only two occurred during the years his wife was not secretary of state.”" |

if that's where you're gonna go with that, what exact influence and/or favors were traded?
because once you get past the attention-grabbing headlines/bolded parts, you gotta be able to back it up. (and I say this as someone who isn't a fan of Hillary Clinton)
seems to me like the author of the book is another Glenn Beck-like figure who is into connecting things on a chalkboard and selling a book than actually proving anything with verifiable facts
