The team looks strong this year and having Martinez back in the lineup will be huge. The addition of Hunter is also key as he is a huge upgrade offensively and defensively over the bums the Tigers ran out there every day last year. The outfield goes from a bottom 10 outfield defensively to a top 10 in mlb

I think so, he never really developed a strikeout pitch and since he's going the sinkerballer route, Detroit is probably one of the worst spots for him.

He's still very young and doesnt have mechanical flaws so he still has good value as a trade chip. He'd be a perfect fit in St. Louis, San Fran, and on other teams with good infield defense

No official closer. He's going situational with Coke (ugh), Benoit(sucks closing games), Dotel (vs RHB), villareal, and alberquerque.

All the tigers fans are hoping alberquerque can win it (by improving his control a little) as his slider may be one of the top 5 sliders in all of baseball. Otherwise, we'll be trading for Hudson Street if none of our guys can step up

Baseball managers are by far the least important coach in any sport. Outside of setting the lineup they don't really do much. Oh, and yeah, Leyland is way too loyal. He can't afford to fuck about, the AL Central is actually a pretty competitive division this year. Indians will be ok, Royals will be ok, White Sox will be pretty good, not a lot of room for error.

I generally agree. If some managers would stop mismanaging their bullpen, they'd really stand out in the crowd (ie - throw out your best reliever in high leverage situations, even if, gasp, it's not in the 9th inning yet)

The guy is garbage. He serves up BP.

He has a straight 90-92mph fastball, a sinker that he has poor vertical control with (a sinker left up in the zone is a perfect BP ball), probably the worst slider in MLB, and an average changeup

Jim Leyland is such a dunce. Look at the teams we've had the past 3 season... How have we managed to win more than 90 regular season games only once?
