...tech talk? Entertainment? Chit Chat? I dunno, but this is for the hobby of performing close-up magic, focusing on products and vendors, techniques, building routines, etc.
Been into this since I was 8. In and out over the years, and been back into it heavy of late.
Here are some sites I've used a bit lately. There are some gorgeous decks available. http://www.ellusionist.com/ http://www.theory11.com/ (I highly recommend the black Shadow Masters and the Sentinels)
Obviously we should not discuss reveals here - and we should try and refer to any slights by their nicknames. Any non-performer lurking who really wants to google this stuff and ruin it for themselves can, and that is the case whether this thread exists or not.
I am currently trying to perfect my double lift and zarrow shuffle. But in the meantime I am always on the lookout for non-card, non-coin magic. i.e. classics like cups and balls, hot rod, etc. and I like building my own equipment too, when possible - I am currently building a set of hot rods to perform up to four of them simultaneously.
On a related note, "cardistry" has gotten huge in recent years, and I've been learning some flourishes such as the sybil cut, 190 helix, drop-T, and butterfly cut.
What are the mainstays in your routine? Cards exclusively, or mix it up (like I like to)? Recommended vendors? Street performer, or small group/club?
