So I'm finally going to be opening a brick and mortar computer sales and repair shop in the NC State area (looking at several open spots, haven't made a final decision yet). I need a name for the store, and haven't been able to think of one I'm really happy with yet.

So help me out. If I pick a name you suggest I'll give you a $50 store credit, good for merchandise or labor when we open in a month or two!

A good first approximation of whether or not you will get sued is doing a trademark search. Pretty much any english word name you come up with is going to have trademarks: http://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/index.jsp

I'm actually planning on writing an app that does name generation + trademark + domain search.

let's face it, this isn't going to be a billion or million dollar company where "catchiness" matters. this isn't a website. you need something that is self explanatory and official sounding/confidence inspiring for busy body and confused parents during open house and move-in when they inevitably have computer problems (user error). fixes, parts, installing software, etc is where your bread and butter will be and you'll have to fight with nerds on campus willing to do it for free to make friends/meet girls/look leet.

The KKK one might be quick and easy publicity, where the argument that you're "taking that abbreviation back" from a sad, dying organization.

Then publicly announce you're changing names because you recognize it may be interpreted the wrong way, and your only goal is serving your community fairly.

Maybe pull a gimmick like geniousxboy like offering CCW or open-carry holders a discount...
