How come no one ever makes a tetralogy or a pentalogy.

How come no one ever comes up with a new idea after a successful comedy and just rides on one success for 2 more movies?

I'm Krallum and I approved this message.

I will be at this! Can't wait for this mess. I am sure they won't follow the same "script." I am expecting a whole new story line but more epic laughs.

Will see this weekend

Not expecting it to eclipse the first or anything, but should beat the 2nd one

Read a couple of reviews, so far everyone is saying it is even worse than the 2nd one and calling it a "pure money grab."

I think I'll hold off on seeing it. I loved the first, second was bad, and unless I start hearing positive reviews I'll just hold off.

^ i've been reading similar. i think this answers what movie me and the g/f will try to see this weekend. we weren't sure if this or F&F6 but i'm inclined to hold off until i read non-critic reviews to see if it is at least decent enough to spend the time and money.

I think everyone knows they made this for money, but I think there was a hope that they did this to, in part, redeem themselves a bit for just how bad the 2nd one really was.

But instead they put even LESS time into this movie/story and just slapped the name on it in hopes of making money.

I had fully intended to go see this after work today, but I'm definitely going to hold off for now. If enough of my friends go and say they liked it I'll check it out in a week or 2.

a film featuring a C-list actor, a cast member from a relatively popular network show, and an alternative comedian who had never been cast as a lead in a major comedy

I'm not a fan, but you have to see that there is an insane difference between what the 1st one was and what this one is reported to be

[Edited on May 24, 2013 at 12:44 AM. Reason : he wasn't even B-list yet]

i read some of the critic reviews but I always base me going to watch a new film on if us regular folks liked it or not. If 88% of us regular folks enjoy the movie I see no problem in going to watch it

to criticize this movie as a "cash grab" is a tacit suggestion that the first The Hangover had some artistic credibility

is a McRib any more of a cash grab than a Big Mac?

the only problem with this movie is that it probably isn't that funny, and that anyone takes it seriously

Saw it last night. Was not even close to as good as the first one, but it was much better than the second one, and I give credit to the script for having a different premise than the whole "wake up and don't remember anything, backtrack the rest of the movie". It wasn't overly funny like the first one, but still highly entertaining. Be sure to stick around for the mid-credits scene, you'll be glad you did. That being said, it's not necessary to see it in theaters.

I still maintain the first one is the most overrated comedy of our lifetimes.

A couple funny lines and an extremely drawn out story with a few really extended boring scenes.

Id say it was moderately good with extremely low rewatchability.

And I love watching the same classic comedies over and over.

The 2nd one I made it through 30 minutes, fell asleep, and never attempted to watch again even though it was downloaded already.

I cant fathom how this movie could make anyones top 10 comedies. And personally I doubt it makes my top 30. And people consider it like an all timer somehow.

i think the first one had a good trailer and caught a huge wave of cultural momentum and its ensuing ubiquity and financial success coupled with a dearth of classic comedies over the last decade gave the illusion of it being an all-timer

Hot Tub Time Machine is way better, so is Cedar Rapids (starring Ed Helms)

the Other Guys and Step Brothers are fucking legit

Tropic Thunder? i'd have to see it again to sign off

Yeah I really like the other guys and stepbrothers.

And to compare the hangover to all time greats that can be watched 100 times like the cable guy, hot rod, super troopers, zoolander, or waynes world is just ludicrous.

I agree it had a great trailer but the dialogue was lacking and the way the plot was laid out made you feel like any minute the movie was going to pick up and get really funny but it never happens.

Honestly the movie would have been much funnier if theyd just shown the things that supposedly happened instead of discovering clues from the night before the whole time.

I mean you go to a buddies house to watch a game or hangout. As the nights winding down he says lets put on the hangover. Be honest. You're coming up with a reason to leave or protesting 100% of the time if you've seen it once or twice.

Not exactly the hallmark of a GREAT comedy. Hangover is a good comedy movie for people who dont really enjoy most true comedies

I see what you are talking about, but I disagree. I think Hangover is a different type of comedy than the other movies you named.

I compare Hangover to Wedding Crashers. The reason I compare the 2, is because even older people in my family enjoy those. Parents, uncles, aunts, grandmas, etc....

However, the other ones you named, like Step Brothers, Super Troopers, Hot Tub Time Machine...Those are MAINLY enjoyed by the younger generation. I can guarantee that the older folks in my family would not find those movies enjoyable, but stupid. Notice I said MAINLY, because this would not apply to all families or individuals.

Perhaps it is because Hangover and Wedding Crashers garnered a lot more media attention than the others, therefore more people hang on to them.

I don't know, just coming up with theories here.

the kinds of dumbasses that LOVE the hangover movies are the guys that used to walk around quoting chapelles show years ago.

"fuck you couch nigga, etc"

oh, and if theyre even slightly redneck they used to pretend to pack an imaginary dip can too.

I thought this was better than part 2. I am one of the few people I guess that enjoyed part 2. It was not on the same high as part 1, b/c I knew premise, but I definitely enjoyed.

Part 3 was still funny, and I think was a solid ending for a surprise franchise. Of course, there was some scenes that where unnecessary, but I enjoyed with the group i went with.

<--- Completely agree

Hot Tub Time Machine was partially funny, I am so glad I bought that for a a 1.50.

i thought hot tub time machine was funny, but found hangover 1 and 2 to both be funnier.

my complaint about the second hangover was that it essentially had the exact same plotline...i understand it's just a movie, but the exact same thing happening to them in different city just seemed way too implausible.

i'm sure i'll see this eventually, probably redbox.
