We have an old boxer mix that we rescued from the side of the road. Turned out she has cancer and was diagnosed with about 6 months to live over 6 months ago. She has definitely deteriorated but still seems to have a good bit of life left in her but today she has thrown up at least four times (I only saw her puke four times but she has a habit of puking and eating it so who knows). The weirdest thing is, they have all been pretty solid pukes, looks like partially digested food. The last time she ate was early this morning so I figured four times today would be more than enough to clear her stomach.

Do we have any extra reason to be concerned or does this sound like a typical stomach ache? She is still hungry so I am guessing it isn't a sign that she is at her end quite yet but who knows. From what I read we shouldn't feed her for a day to let her stomach heal so we are going to try that, just wanted to see of anyone has an idea about it being solid every time.

When you start feeding her again feed plain white rice.

^^ she still gets a lot of joy out of life. Loves to take small walks, get her ears scratched, etc. this is the first time she had exhibited any signs of feeling bad.

Your dog may like those affections, but she could also be miserable and in a lot of pain due to cancer. If the vomitting doesn't stop after today, either she needs to be put down or see a vet for other testing. If you were told 6 months and it's been 6 months then you should realize that things may be getting very bad for her.

Yeah she will be going to the vet Monday if it doesn't get better. We definitely don't want her to suffer but we don't want to put her down if she doesn't need it. I am sure anyone who has loved a pet can certainly understand how hard that decision is, I don't want to be selfish and keep her in pain though.

Also don't want to just put her down if she ate some garbage that made her stomach upset. Our goal is to do the best thing for her.

Feed her twice a day. She is getting bile in her stomach from too much time in between feedings, and its causing her to vomit. Do this for a week before taking her to the vet.

So you are absolutely positive yet you haven't seen the dog and are also recommending that they let a cancer ridden dog vomit for an entire week before taking them to the vet?

Well, she had a solid little poop this morning which I take as a good sign (she had diarrhea yesterday morning). She wasn't too into the rice but that is probably because we spoil her with a little wet food in every meal. I gave her some pita bread and she scarfed that down no problem. Seems to be feeling much better today, will keep a close eye on her though. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Good luck. You can try unseasoned chicken as well.

Just a quick update in case anyone was interested. Our girl is doing great today, she has ate all her food and kept everything down and is really back to her old self. She is slowing down in general so I know she won't be with us much longer but she seemed really happy today and I am just going to cherish the remaining days we have with her.
