Don't know who else on here is a fan of the show but I did see this on facebook today. Bar Rescue is filming in Garner at a bar called Character's Quarters on highway 70.

Once Kickback Jack's opened in Garner it basically has sucked all of the business out of the other bars around. Gonna be interesting to see what concept Taffer decides to try...

It would be great if the entire episode was just the host packing up the bar and moving it out of Garner.

I enjoy this and similar shows, though the filler and stupid drama gets annoying and I quite watching for a while. I liked Character's, though it was pretty dead. Never been to Kickback.

i really enjoy this show but as ^ said, they've upped the scripted "drama" and taken away from the redesign and retraining portions of the show which I always found the most interesting. Sometimes wish this was more like Restaurant Impossible.

i did love his line about how Hip Hop clubs are all about Security.

I read an article once that said that like 90% of the places on these types of shows still fail even after the rescue.

Yeh, the redesign, retraining, and reopening were always the most interesting parts and what I watched it for... I also always wanted to see how the business operated afterwards and not a simple statement about the bar 3 months later. But, since they focus on drama and not the actual content, it gets boring.

I wish this and other shows were more like documentaries.

i try to read up on some of them after the show airs. A lot of times the owners ditch the Taffer theme and go back to the original name while keeping all of the amenities that were added. Some close, some stay the same, very few improve.

i'm curious about the Taffer names. If he creates a new theme and name is there some sort of reimbursement/partial ownership that Taffer gets in the end? And if so, that's probably a reason a lot of owners ditch his names shortly after leaving.

That's because the owners are the same. There's a reason they were failing to begin with and while these owners act humbled on the show, I'm sure that lasts about a week and old habits take back over.

Went last night with the wife after the Canes game. We got there right at opening, which wasn't until like 10:15. It took us like 70 minutes to get our drinks and food. Lots of issues all around.

It was interesting to see what was real and what was staged. Apparently for the stress test, they were only allowed to have 3 servers working, while they normally have 5 or 6. They were only given 75 drinking glasses to use, despite 125 patrons being let in the door. Obviously they were gonna face problems.

Some of the drama was real though. One of the waitresses (girl in a baseball outfit) was on camera with plenty of drama, and then was totally rude to the table next to us. The owner was pissed and using a bunch of F-bombs on camera, as was John.

Whiskey sour and burger were pretty good though, despite slightly undercooked.

O'Charley's closed down along with Mayflower seafood. The little hole in the wall spot that used to be Fenway's is closed. Character's Quarters was apparently on the verge.

The only bar besides KickBack's that ever has cars in the parking lot is Locked and Loaded.

I may be wrong but I'm not in Garner that often anymore.

Where bars do you frequent in Garner?

Now if you are talking about White Oak, that's a whole different side of town...

I agree with Keb. Kickback Jack's is the place to go now in that area. The service is pretty good for a bunch of slutty looking waitresses and the food isn't bad either.

White Oak is hoppin' but I do consider that a different part of town.

Kickback Jacks is pretty awful. Huge menu, 90% frozen and fried. Waitresses were great when they first opened, but I've been twice recently and they are pretty gross. Also, beer selection is terrible

any pictures from last night?

I think bar rescue is a really dumb show that I get incredibly addicted to quite often.

When is the actual re-opening? In 3 days?

When Bar Rescue turned the Pirate bar in Silver Spring, MD into something called "Corporate Bar" I thought it was the stupidest thing I ever saw.

"Corporate" types don't go to a place called Corporate. They go to a place to get drunk.

Taste. Assuming you get burgers at places that grind their own steaks/make their own patties (which is the only place you should be ordering a burger from), then med rare is the way to go.

Kickback Jacks makes good business. The best business of any place on that side of town. It is crowded on weeknights and weekends. I haven't had anything there that was bad. Their nachos are only $7.99 and are HUGE and really good. The burgers and fries are good as well. I've had their pizza and it wasn't bad either.
I would say that Kickback makes as much money/business as the Ale House in Cary does.

Rock-Ola (the restaurant it used to be) was always packed back in the day.. In the late 90s, early 2000s it was almost always a 1-2 hour wait...but its business started falling after they changed it around and tried to make it more "fancy"... Turning it into a kickbacks was the best thing they ever did.

food at kbj's is pretty disappointing. read through most of the menu and you're like "oh this may be good" then you get to the part of the meal description where it's like "deep fried" and I'm like uuuuggggggghhhhhhh
