I actually posted this about an hour before this thread was created, I just didn't make a new thread for it since it fit so well into another thread on the topic of politicians picking their voters, rather than letting voters pick their representatives, what with the efforts to put GOP candidates first on the ballot, end Sunday voting that African American churches mobilize around, pass restrictive photo ID requirements, reduce early voting, and eliminate same day registration.

I didn't think making it harder for college kids to vote really needed it's own thread since it fit into that pattern of manipulating the vote. But if you think a tax hike bill for families trying to put their kids through college if the kids dare to vote in the area where they live throughout the academic year deserves it's own thread, more power to you. 4/3/2013 12:41:31 PM |

some republicans also proposed a bill to do away with school class size limits, and so teachers at charter schools don't even need a college education. 4/3/2013 1:23:22 PM |

I'm sorry Supplanter, but I looked at your "Bill to put NC GOP candidates 1st on the ballot" thread exactly once (when it was created).
At the time you hadn't linked the legislation in my OP, so you can drop the asshat attitude.
I was obviously having a little fun at your expense since everyday you post something new about our state government that basically indicates you're the most unhappy North Carolinian imaginable.
I don't disagree with you either; I just thought it was funny in this instance.

The democrats have been picking their voters underhandedly now for 60 years and have been very successful at it. At least the republicans have the balls to make their efforts official. 4/3/2013 4:08:02 PM |

I don't think many people would claim that democratic politicians aren't shady too. All politicians are. But with all the stuff that the GA should be focusing on right now, the repubs sure are spending a lot of time this session proposing silly ridiculous bills, many of which are blatant attempts to disenfranchise voters who would vote against them.

^i'm not sure what your preoccupation is - and i don't exaggerate when i say preoccupation - with people "taking things personally" on this board is, me in particular? you're following me around and following up posts i make that aren't even directed at you with encouragement to not get mad. that's pretty weird. is it because i sent you a pm?
we are all just people sitting around talking shit on a message board, quit accusing everyone of getting offended. and if you really want to talk some e-smack, why don't you follow some of your own advice, because i detect an awful lot of butthurt from your direction in sports talk with regard to people speculating about the team.
speculating - bad do to about basketball, good to do about everyone else

What I gather here is:
Nobody cares if Supplanter makes a bunch of threads each individually addressing legislation from the crazy GA he doesn't like.
So I try to be funny "and get called out on it," which is fine, but how about Supplanter condense all these into a single thread?
Maybe I wasn't funny, but neither is padding TSB.
"Supplanter's Crazy General Assembly Bill Thread" would be a big hit I'm sure. His "asshat attitude" is being snarky with me because he (and apparently disco_stu) have no problem with new general assembly threads being made daily.
You guys really can just fuck each other with secular uncircumcised penises for all I care. 4/3/2013 5:04:53 PM |

Who could have known we would have such an epic string of shitty bills streaming out of the NCGA?
I mean, a lot of folks knew it was gonna suck, but it's really mind boggling how quickly they've thrown together these insultingly stupid bills - I think some are surprised
It's pretty difficult to keep all that dumbassery contained to one thread

Maybe, but a single thread would also curtail complaints of "related" bills being tacked into existing threads and eventually derailing them or making the title completely irrelevant.
It's a good idea all around. 4/3/2013 5:40:27 PM |

It's more to the point that the GA is rolling out increasingly ludicrous, insulting, unconstitutional, knee-jerk, petulant legislation, and Supplanter is pointing them out for discussion. I understand this is like Conservative Christmas to some of you folks, but that doesn't negate a rational ability to point out how fucked up and backwards it is. 4/3/2013 5:49:17 PM |

I'm compiling the bills that relating to voting access into one thread and I think that makes sense, but I don't think things like slashing education and making divorce harder and predatory lending fit together as one topic quite as well.
Although I can see where you're coming from with your point about wanting to reduce any discussion of embarrassing and damaging things the General Assembly is up to down into only easily ignorable thread.
I'd say that this thread has derailed, but I'm not sure with a title like that it was ever on the rails to begin with. Which is unfortunate because this is actually a topic that I think is worthy of discussion. I'd invite you to remake this thread without any reference or discussion of me and to have this one locked.

With the megathreads, it's hard to follow a talking point, because there are 20 other talking points in the same topic. It stifles discussion. I prefer individual threads most of the time. 4/3/2013 6:07:08 PM |

As I've already pointed out I simply want the daily "Raleigh Republican Retard Alert" threads condensed.
