Ehtan Hawke has been in a a couple liberal themed movies as of late. I think that this will be a take on gun control and the sacrifices of being able to call yourself safe.

A lot of screenings in Raleigh seem to be shown like Tuesday/Wednesday before it comes out on Friday for lesser movies. Some movies will have a week or two in advance.

Twist is probably that the rich family is somehow involved in the origins for "the purge" day. Either they rallied it at conception, or something like that.

i saw it opening night, the first 2/3 was a great suspenseful thriller. The "twist" wasn't great, and the movie ended a little flat. Would have been nice to develop the actual purge plotline a little more.

Saying this is propaganda is a little bit much. They had a comment that all the crime/poverty was removed because people killed all the poor people because they couldn't afford security systems.

Overall I am happy I saw it. I wouldn't call it a must see, but it was in the better half of suspenseful/thriller/horror films I have seen recently.

Saw the first one a few weeks ago. Very meh. Good concept, horrible execution. Although there were many stupid parts, the part where the mother made all the neighbors just hang out until the end of the purge made me really scratch my head. As if, after finding out that your neighbors all want to kill you, they will just go straight back to an ordinary life of being rich and having BBQs the next day?
