RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory on Friday evening announced he was replacing all members of the State Board of Elections. The appointments take effect Wednesday – just as an investigation into political contributions made to McCrory and other top Republicans’ officeholders’ campaigns is getting underway.
Three Republicans and two Democrats will replace the current three-Democrat, two-Republican board. The board’s majority represents the governor’s party.
The move puts the progress of the board’s investigation into campaign contributions from an indicted sweepstakes software company owner in question.
Bob Hall, executive director of Democracy North Carolina, last week asked the board to investigate more than 60 campaign contributions totaling more than $230,000. Some of the contributions went to McCrory, House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate leader Phil Berger.

Yeah there is nothing fishy here at all. So much for the guy who was going to "clean up Raleigh". 4/27/2013 3:11:51 PM |

Quote : | "McCrory spokeswoman Kim Genardo said the timing of the appointments had nothing to do with the investigation. All five members’ terms expire April 30, and McCrory’s office wants new appointments to be made on time. The governor selects members from a list of five candidates submitted by each party. McCrory selected the top two Democrats, Genardo said. " |

^you might want to edit that out, since it flies in the face of this liberal wet dream that mccrory can't even take a shit without there being alterior motives. 4/27/2013 5:44:02 PM |

Are the offices typically renewed?
Was the board effective at their job?
Is it common for a gov to adjust the board to reflect his party's lean?
There are other important questions before you accept the Occupy Wallstreet spin.
I was a supporter of the occupy people in the beginning, but their Facebook posts have been very Fox Newsy recently. 4/27/2013 6:19:46 PM |

This isnt some consipracy, although partisan politics are at play. This is standard operating procedure for the NC board of elections. The State board is appointed by the governor and he/she usually appoints a majority in favor of their party. With a party change in the governorship it is not a surprise to see the board completely wiped out. The timing of the appointments was not related to the pending investigation as it is dictated by law to take place in this timeframe. I'm not too concerned about the new state elections board. It seems to be composed of many level headed people this time around. I'm much more concerened about the GA trying to dismantle all the other regulatory boards and previous appointed positions from previous administrations in NC using the proposed legislation.
Gary Barlett (D), the executive director of the SBOE since 1993, will be the next to go sometime in june/julyish. He will be replaced with an R but we don't know who it is just yet. 4/29/2013 11:18:37 AM |
