I only watched 1 episode of the first season. Was it worth watching or as terrible as the concept sounds? The season 2 trailer seems to be going closer to the roots of the series.

They are definitely good. The best ones are Raiden and Scorpion.

I really enjoyed this when it came out a couple years ago. I am re-watching it now since a new season is about to premier. I find it interesting they are using the same actor for Shang Tsung as they did in the original 1995 movie.

When did Mortal Kombat become a show? What channel? Is the first season in Netflx?

It's not a television show, more of a web series. The episodes were released a week at a time back in April, May, and June 2011 on Youtube. They are kind of fan based episodes that are professionally done. You can actually buy all the episodes on dvd/blu ray but they may still be available on Youtube, which is where I originally watched them. I imagine that is how they will be released for this second season.
