Technical skills:
You may not have demonstrable experience in all the technologies below but we’ll be expecting a good cross section of them.
We value strong computer science skills and quality and so you will need:
-Minimum 4 years experience developing windows applications using .NET and C#. Knowledge of .NET version 4.0 is a plus. -Experience in WPF and WinForms -Experience in developing and implementing WCF services -Good grasp of distributed, fault-tolerant systems (caching, algorithms optimization, memory management) -Strong database skills and SQL skills. Working with huge database is a plus. -Experience with an industry-leader ORM, like Entity Framework, NHibernate or Link2SQL. -Experience in multithreading, parallel programming is a plus. -Knowledge of the messaging technologies like TIBCO EMS is a plus -Experience of embedding quality into the development process, ideally test-driven development -Experience with unit testing is a plus – unit tests, mock frameworks (NUnit, TypeMock/RhinoMocks)
I'm confused with some terminologies like WPF, WCF, ORM, TIBCO, NUnit, TypeMock, etc. Who are familiar with them?

Not trying to be a dick, but did you try to google the terms you're not familiar with? If you're unfamiliar with that much stuff in a job description, it's probably not a job for you. 4/30/2013 12:34:26 AM |

Again, asking the types of questions he is, he doesnt stand a chance.
Also if hes only half as awkward IRL as he is on here, then he will be lucky to:
1) find the interview itself
2) not crash in-route
3) notify the appropriate people hes arrived for said interview
4) hide his ridiculous level of Asian long enough to stutter he has no clue why hes actually there
5) leave the room before interviewers burst into tears (laughing) 4/30/2013 2:19:42 PM |

I don't think PHD level research can still be called as EDUCATION. My yrs in the lab is mainly preparation for my future high-tech business.
And I don't think 120K is an average salary for workers in DB. They just post the money there to attract attentions. The hiring manager told me that they were expanding, planning to recruit 300+ ppl. 120K*300=36M. I don't believe DB is gonna invest such amount of money to a small office like RTP. 4/30/2013 3:44:03 PM |

5-10 years Experienced C# and Java Developers can earn 100k+ without much effort.
However, most people cannot do the job well, so that's why the comp is so high.
If you cannot develop software, it will be obvious within a week, and you'll get removed.

When I still lived in Raleigh I was offered a job in that range at Deustche Bank. I turned it down to work at a startup for lower pay, which I didn't purchase my vested shares when I left, which is now IPOing. FML

The company didn't seem like it had a chance in hell of IPO at the time and it's business isn't something that would create a good retail market for shares. I left for more equity in terms of percent instead of nebulous shares that were diluted to all hell and more money. Given it's been 3 years and the difference in salary has dwarfed what I would have made. At worst I would have gotten my money back and best gotten a down payment on a Tesla 5/7/2013 11:06:34 AM |

^^ I admit that.
My question is how deep they will ask me about PHP or JQuery in a 30 mins' phone interview. I know HTML and JDK, but I don't know much about PHP.

They are going to probe how much you know. If you knock the simple ones out of the park, they'll go deeper. Even if you can fake the phone interview, which I seriously doubt, they'll tear you a new one in the in-person one. You would be much better served looking through job descriptions for stuff you actually can do. 7/18/2013 11:50:52 PM |
NCstAteFer All American 7194 Posts user info edit post |
^^Depends who interviews you during that 30 minute interview - if it is someone technical, then they are likely going to test your knowledge with some in depth questions. If it is HR, then they are likely to ask basic questions to get a "feel" for how comfortably you answer the question.
Good luck. 7/19/2013 10:55:05 AM |

Just finished the phone interview. It's a HR person. She asked me some behavior questions only. So the real challenge is the on-site interview. They r definitely gonna ask me technical ones. I know XML, but not much about PHP. 7/19/2013 11:21:34 AM |
