i dont guess there is any way to find out how much a dealer paid for a used car at auction?
trying to figure out how much wiggle room i have to negotiate

^^^^only way you'll find out is if you know someone else that was at the same auction and took notice of the prices.

So most likely you're SOL.

Just because a dealer bought a car at auction doesn't mean you have a lot of negotiating room.

It is 100% possible to find out what the car sold for at auction. You will need to know the VIN, and exactly what auction it was bought from, and you will either need access to the auction or you will need access to someone who is registered with said auction. BUT this does not give you all the information you think you are getting, because it will not tell you what finance fees the dealer paid in order to buy the vehicle (yes most dealers finance the used cars they buy at auctions), or any transportation fees, or any reconditioning costs they have incurred.
