Just a heads up. This isn't really about shadowrun but there are obviously some tabletop roleplayers in this thread.

Right now on kickstarter chaosium is funding a new seventh edition of Call of Cthulhu. Great stretch goals etc. I highly recommend pledging if you like or are interested in getting into CoC. Some great deals for people just starting out in the system.

the xbox game didn't look true to the feel of the series at all, so i didn't even bother trying it. (more like a fps...?)

however, the sega version was AWESOME...i'd play the hell out of that right now.

i was always drawn to the escort/kill stuff missions, but i never really understood the hacking/cyberspace/puzzle-type missions and therefore missed out on some SERIOUS NUYEN!

I still have a ton of Shadowrun stuff, both 1st and 2nd edition, a lot of the sourcebooks, modules, etc. Great RPG. I wish I had the time for it.

I played it back in the day, and also loved the SNES game. I'm really looking forward to the Shadowrun Returns game coming out sooooooon.

Shadowrun Returns is out today. Read the IGN review and it was a mostly positive 7.3, docking it for being fairly short and pretty linear compared to the games that clearly inspired it (fallouts, jagged alliance, etc). But still the review notes that the game includes the editor so the best is hopefully yet to come.

Also this is a big day for kickstarter publishers in general as this is the first "big budget" kickstarter game to be released. Lets hope it does well.

Even before the game came out, a team was working on using the editor to recreate the SNES game in it. There's definitely more and better to come.

^That sounds great. I read somewhere that someone already has the initial level from the SNES game on workshop.

Loaded shadowruns rom a few weeks back and abruptly quit. The game kinda fell off when you go to the junkyard. Am I missing something here? The games not really that fun. I know its 'oldschool' and all but I think it sucks to be honest.

plenty of games WERE awesome but don't stand the test of times. there are countless games i tried to play again but couldnt, if for no other reason than the controls (i'm looking at you goldeneye).

Played this last week after I got it on the steam sale. It's quite fun. Some of the user generated stuff is also good.
