DAMN, How is there not a thread about this movie already?
Anyhow, saw it tonight and I normally don't like Horror films, nor do they usually keep me off my feet. This movie was very entertaining and actually got a raise in BP during my viewing, plus its based on true events. Genuinely impressed.
Quote : | "In 1971, Carolyn and Roger Parren move their family into a dilapidated Rhode Island farm house and soon strange things start happening around it with escalating nightmarish terror. In desperation, Carolyn contacts the noted paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to examine the house. What the Warrens discover is a whole area steeped in a satanic haunting that is now targeting the Parren family wherever they go. To stop this evil, the Warrens will have to call upon all their skills and spiritual strength to defeat this spectral menace at its source that threatens to destroy everyone involved." |

I second this. Great thriller. Its from the same director who did a few Saw movies, Silent Night and Insidious. 7/29/2013 9:09:36 PM |

Saw it last Saturday, I will give it a B-
Predictable jump out and scare you moments. Lots of undeveloped/unnecessary parts of the movie that would have been better left out. As far as horror movies go it was decent but nothing that hasn't been done in every other demonic possession movie. And let's be honest, how much of this is likely to be based in reality? Because there are really haunted houses out there... 7/29/2013 9:23:55 PM |

I thought it was really good. Probably the best horror movie I've seen in theaters from the last few years*. It was billed as being "really" scared though (based on critics' reviews I read) and I was a bit let down in that respect. It didn't really fuck with my head at all. I definitely recommend seeing it though.
*I loved Insidious, but didn't see it in the theater. 7/30/2013 9:26:54 AM |

If it wasn't for the amazing camera work and great directing I think it would have been panned. Camera work was the star of the movie. 7/30/2013 9:46:06 AM |

I enjoyed it, but was hoping for more. I wish that there was some sort of epilogue, like the spirit followed the Warrens home or something more with the doll. 8/8/2013 3:58:10 PM |
