oh that dicaprio jonah hill movie...i'd watch that too...and anchorman 2...some good movies this winter

Saw it tonight and thought it was pretty lame. Amy Adams was hot, Jennifer Garner not so much. Loved The Wolf of Wall Street, thought this wasn't that compelling. I see the reviews are incredible, but all 5 of us who saw it tonight weren't that into it.

It has a great cast and all of their acting is great.

The movie just isn't terribly interesting.

agree with Stein.

So far, this is the movie that has Oscar written all over it - the Academy usually favors the serious dramas like this, but as far as entertainment value it really drug on a lot.

It reminded me a lot of Argo...good acting, cheesy-ish story line, a movie I liked, a movie I would never watch again.

Bale and Adams were both very good, IMO. Renner was so so. Lawrence was so so. Louis CK was pretty bad.

It's worth a watch, and it sounds as if I liked it more than most of this thread, but I still maintain it was decent.

Agree with others that the acting was mostly top notch but the story dragged a bit.

I thought Jennifer Lawrence did a good job, I think people are confusing her annoying character for poor acting.

Louis CK was terrible though.

And Amy Adams's tits were incredible.

I agree but I can't think of many films this year that have a viable shot at best picture.

They should have named this movie "Amy Adams' Sideboob" because that is all I saw.

Yeah...not getting where all the award hype from this movie is coming from. My step-dad fell asleep midway through...surprised my wife didn't.

I liked it...but it wasn't anything special.

As usual, Film Threat nails it:

http://www.filmthreat.com/reviews/73285/

lol:

"...he partners romantically and professionally with a sexy huckster named Sydney Prosser. She’s played by Amy Adams’ breasts. That’s only a slight exaggeration. Her necklines don’t plunge, they do a double gainer with reverse somersaults and a twist."

Bingo...It was hard to take any of the other stuff with any grain of seriousness after they used this to set it all up.

The whole was less than the sum of the parts. Lawrence was fine, but probably too young to fit the role. Hard to buy a 23-year old being that weary.

I think it was too plotty -- we didn't really get a chance for the characters or their situations to sink in.

12 years a slave will clearly win best picture.

It was stylish with some good performances...and very generally entertaining for those reasons. But I definitely agree with this:

Great drama, but like others have said it was nothing I'd want to rewatch.

This was a character driven movie and I sort of liked it. the love triangle...rectangle? ...was taken its toll on me.

I never considered Amy Adams or Jennifer Lawrence sexy. They're real pretty and we try so hard to push them to be sexy. dudes always flip out with they see a piece of boob. it's what dudes do. it means nothing really.

I love a good con story and I always like when a con flips it in the end. I didnt like the end to this. I cant put my finger on why though. It just wasn't convincing or clever. forgettable.

I wasn't convinced that Amy Adams and Michael Bale were such good con artist that the FBI wanted them and no one they conned(sp?) complained. They felt like two bit con artists. the Sheik thing was jumping the shark for me. but I enjoyed the set up. I like how they got deeper and deeper in shit.

Michael Bale, who I like, is going to die of a heart attack doing one these quick weight loss/gains and no one will know it at first because he's method actor. lol.

I actually liked Bradley Cooper's character. he was naive till the very end. Amy Adams' character I would have thrown her off a bridge. so under-minding. I didnt mind Jennifer Lawrence's character and I was waiting on the catfight.

I got a kiss instead. ...Bullshit.

6 out of 10

i enjoyed the movie...wasn't an instant classic or anything, had some slow parts...but was pretty good...the lawyer office thing was pretty baller...and the best character in the movie was obviously Victor Tellegio...but it was a decent flick

I really don't understand how this movie has 93% on RT. Amy Adams was the only redeeming aspect. really bad movie that felt like it was 4 hours long somehow.

in a small community of regular users, im pretty sure we can expect a little regulation. or should i just be super racist and chalk it up to being on the internet too?

i guess at that point though we could chock the hate up to snobbery of some sort.

that was more of a rhetorical question than a threat. the point was, we can't post on an internet forum and then chalk up everything to "it is the internet" (lest we're in chit chat).

[Edited on February 4, 2014 at 4:23 PM. Reason : i think you'd be hard pressed to find me "being a douche" for fun in entertainment.]
