He was absolutely horrible when doing highlights with Patrick on NBC before Sunday Night Football. Olbermann at this point in time thinks recapping sports equates to making a smartass remark every 3 seconds. It's not bad when you don't see it coming and it's an occasional thing. All the effing time? No.

That's his shtick now. Olbermann feels the need to make a smart remark every 3 seconds to make himself the center of attention instead of talking about what is actually going on, that's Dennis Miller to a tee. Contrast to Dan Patrick who is far more constrained, knows his spots, and the importance of timing.

You want a proper use of Olbermann's talents? Put him opposite Skip Bayless.

when they bring back a guy who left ESPN under about the worst possible circumstances imaginable, I wouldn't just call it being proactive

I think they're worried that Fox Sports 1 might actually broadcast some legitimate sports content, as opposed to Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless arguing about Miley Cyrus, just because The Worldwide Leader basically didn't have any competition so they could afford to air that crap every day
