Ps3 media server is the media server application I use. Install it, set the target folders, save the profile. Boom.
When you want to use it, start the server, and turn on your renderer (ps3, Xbox, bluray player, etc). Everything else is done from your device.
Never mind, you want to watch an internet stream...

tablet via HDMI out, laptop or desktop with a DVI-HDMI cable.
too bad you don't have a chromecast, this might be a great use for it. 9/2/2013 7:37:14 PM |

Sorry I'm back, I'm hoping to stream wirelessly fRom my desktop to my wireless capable Blu-ray player. Twonky will let me browse media from my computer. I'd like to basically stream my desktop to my blu ray so it comes up on the tv. I also have a Xbox 360 if that helps ] 9/5/2013 7:41:16 AM |

hrm apparently it only streams "channels" or media from your computer ... I'll have to fiddle with it. their intro paragraph makes me laugh
Quote : | "PlayOn is both browser and media server for your Windows PC which lets you magically stream your favorite shows, movies, even your personal media files from your PC to your TV, smartphone or tablet. To display videos on your TV, PlayOn relies on a friend such as a game console like the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, WiiU or another supported device like a Roku." |
what about using twitch or justin.tv to stream, then navigating to it using a browser to connect to it ?
seems like that would work, but it seems like an absurd amount of trouble.

I think the solution lies in a VLC stream 9/9/2013 12:51:04 AM |

I know Orbcast allows you to pick a selection of your desktop and turn it into a stream. It should do exactly what you want it to do with the right setup. 9/9/2013 9:54:40 AM |
