How is there not a thread for this yet?

I love superstitious/occult/witchcraft shows so this is right up my alley. I thought the pilot last night was very solid. Quite likely I'll continue to watch.

Anyone else catch it? A few things struck me as somewhat odd, but I don't want to reveal anything if people haven't seen it yet.

I did not watch. I know this show is all over my facebook and the local news here in New Bern, because there was some scenes shot over in Tryon Palace.

I watched it, thought it was great. For a pilot, they didnt beat around the bush a whole lot which was nice. The end of the episode with the mirror was creepy as fuck.

Also, 2 pretty popular actors getting killed in the first episode was interesting.

This is a genre I hardly ever watch/find any interest in. However, I thought the pilot was pretty good and intriguing. I'll definitely be watching this season.

i don't think they did a very good job marketing this, there was plenty of ads, but they didn't really give any idea what the show was actually about. After watching, I was very pleasantly surprised, it went in a very different direction than what i thought it would, and actually gave itself somewhere to go, will definitely give it a shot.

^^ I didn't bother watching for that reason.. I was like "ok, so a headless horseman.. How long can you milk that?" and figured it would be stupid

Other than the curiously racially diverse police force in a small town/county I really enjoyed this.

I just hope it doesn't devolve into them hiding the head in a different place every week or two. I'm interested to see how this will be formatted for the long haul.

I decided to DVR this show and give it a couple of episodes(same thing I did for The Following)...and was pleasantly surprised. Will continue watching.

***Slight Spoiler***

Started watching, saw the old sheriff, immediately knew he was going to die very shortly, haha. Glad they went that way.

Ironic that The Kurgan was beheaded, or very clever casting on the part of the show?

I don't understand why those idiots at Fox did that. The population of Sleepy Hollow IRL is less than 10,000.

i didn't watch, but isn't this supposed to take place in modern times?

and the original sleepy hollow was in the 1820s?

so the population has probably increased since then?

they made the population 144,000 and here is why is why the 'idiots' at fox did that

The sign said 144k? I thought it was 110k. Either way, if they want 144000 to have significance in the show then maybe they should film it somewhere else, instead of a tiny hamlet?

Nah, that's the population, as of 2010's census.

as an aside, i'm not a fan of the horseman using modern guns. (flintlocks are fine) the magic battle axe is more than sufficient and modern guns essentially turn him into a headless terminator in revolutionary war clothing.

Just watched the first episode. I thought it was great. We'll definitely be watching again. I didn't really know what to expect but was surprised that it was taking place in modern/current times.

It was better than I was expecting, which was just about nothing. I do like how they have carved this out to be a tale of the coming apocalypse. Could salvage it with the religious story line.

Thought it was funny that 'Brother Justin' from Carnivale was the sheriff. Would have been awesome to have him in another religious storyline.

the burned witch thing was kind of cool but they rushed it too much

zombie John Cho is kind of interesting

when he ran at full speed into the mirror I was simultaneously laughing and horrified

i'm ok with them not showing the HH in the second episode. don't want to burn out what could be a great villain too early. i watched last night to help the Nielsen ratings

much of it is extremely silly but its well written and paced and acted so its enjoyable. John Noble (Walter on fringe) will be in later episodes which should be great.

It doesn't take itself too seriously, but some of the monsters (especially the blurry demon) are legitimately freaky. And Ichabod Crane is surprisingly pretty funny.

I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I do.

Solid third episode makes up for a meh 2nd episode.

Sand man monster looks like something out of Guillermo Del Toro's mind.

Yeah the sand man was a quality monster for a TV show, along with the special effects. I hope to see more. I like how Ichabod easily adjusts to new/future things and doesn't freak out in a corny way. Except for spitting out the Redbull. I'm sure he's had fizzy cider before, so it's not that foreign.

The little diatribe they had about the tax rate on the donuts make me laugh. Especially when he started encouraging rebellion.

I, too, am bothered by a show that features witches, demons & zombies not sticking to real life census numbers for a town

Just saw the first ep & it wasn't bad, but it's likely gonna get too campy for my personal taste pretty soon. Will give it a go til that happens though

easily the most terrifying protagonist on The Real Ghostbusters... going around making people pass out with a powder (which i'm sure was tasteless and odorless in a beverage...)

blah blah blah, if you're gonna have the entire show shot in an actual small town that doesn't have a lot of people around it makes it look really weird
