Evans had a few good games. And he had alot of terrible games. Don't forget that he Quarterbacked teams that lost to ECU and Wake Forest at home. Even the Boston College game...He made, I think, 1 good pass that game. Hell, even the FSU game, most of his good passes were jump balls that John Dunlap and Geron James just out-muscled the defensive backs for. Then you have his two game stretch in 07 @ ECU and home against Virginia where he threw for a combined 682 yds, 6 TD's and only 2 INT's while completing over 60% of his passes. Hell, 1/3 of his career TD passes were in those two games!

At the moment, I'd take Thomas over Evans, but just barely. Stone could barely complete passes. He was a much better TE than QB, and he wasn't a great TE. Pete Thomas reminds me of Jay Davis. He can complete passes and garner some yards, but he will screw up alot and won't win alot of games.

thomas hasn't won shit though. how the hell can you put him ahead of a guy who won like 4 acc games.

the only argument you could make for thomas is that his team surrounding him is significantly worse than all the other teams. those chuck amato teams had high level talent EVERYWHERE.

They live off points inside the arc. I doubt they get those against us.

They don't shoot threes at all. That's our main weakness defensively.

Defensively they are horrid.

They are hopelessly short and have zero depth.

I like NC State vs the spread. This has all the makings of a 30+ point game that might only be a 15 point spread.

^^I only do it because of the small sample size with Pete so far. If he had a season and a half to accumulate stats, I would bet he could get 4 wins in the ACC and I would imagine he would have a game or two where his stats would be above average. Especially if he had multiple years in the same system with the same coaches like Evans had.

But, its all opinion and speculation at this point. One really is not much better than the other.

Let's not act like those teams Evans played on were stacked. There was talent at a few positions (good RBs, defense was ok IIRC). But we were 3-9 in Amato's last year and 5-7 the next. High level talent EVERYWHERE is definitely an overstatement.

And Beck is at the bottom of any list of shitty State QBs. He was the worst of the bunch.

stacked teams with no qb aren't going to do very well. im saying evans was much better than thomas but that doesn't mean he wasn't extremely shit.

If the other team scored 20, we knew we lost and along with the pro defense we basically had nfl running backs and pretty good wrs/te.

Since I am distantly related through marriage I can say this, Justin Burke was the worst. 12th rated QB in the nation out of high school and couldn't beat out Beck. Transferred to Louisville and did nothing.

So back to the actual game. Syracuse has played a much tougher schedule than us and looked pretty shitty overall although they did hang with Penn State and we're in the game with Northwestern for like 1.5 quarters. This game should be close and probably an abortion in terms of watchability.

Syracuse has a better offense than us, but their D sucks. Game will hinge on whether or not we can move the ball. Most likely not since Thomas shows no signs of getting better. I see another L.
