Better than the first one I thought, but not great. Was much more funny than I was expecting. It was enjoyable and worth a watch especially to keep up with the marvel universe, but I don't feel any need to ever watch again.

I did think the mid credits scene was really awesome for what it previewed for us and implied for the future

Enjoyed the movie. Enjoyed much more than the 1st. I will see it again, on DVD. But I like the ground work again being laid for the Marvel Universe.

Loki is what makes Thor great.

I thought it was kind of meh. I honestly liked the first one better. I felt like the villain was really generic and that his death came too easily considering how powerful he was supposed to be. It wasn't even Thor that ultimately beat him... He just kept him busy until Natalie & friends used science.

Also, Thor needs to put his damn helmet on.

^lol, too easy to beat? They HAD to use science. Don't you remember him saying, "They don't have any weapon against this?" when he was talking to his little goon dude? Thor would have never beaten him by himself, because he couldn't beat the eather(or however its spelled). Nobody in that realm could. The science was the way to beat it. I don't think he was killed easily. Hell, it damn near killed Thor.

If it took a 20 minute beatdown scene, he would have said it took too long. Some people can't be pleased. I thought it was done very well.

I havent seen the movie yet but these movies now, we know, are leading to Avengers 2. we all know who the bad guy is going to be in Avenger 2. That's not your normal bad guy.

do they do anything to enhance that story in this ?

my biggest fear is that that bad guy will turn into a generic bad guy with no build up

2 thumbs up for this movie. Great experience in a theatre and the cast is used very well (much better than the first Thor - which was an ok introductory character movie in my opinion - nothing more nothing less). In a nutshell, you can tell they invested major dollars into BOTH the script and effects this go round, and it was a home run considering the acting talent they have for this series.

Saw this one and I didn't really like it. I enjoyed the first one.

My mother saw it and afterwards she kept saying that the "main girl" in the movie had zero personality and did not fit in with the cast and made the story seem far fetched (the gods, spaceships, magic, and evil elements were fine, the boring scientist wasn't). Claimed she ruined the movie

I liked the movie, but didn't really like the defeat of the Big Bad.

What the sticks did was never really explained and then they went from "things that open a large field to teleport people" to "whatever body part it's touching, that's what teleports"

I don't know if I'd agree with Wraith that his death came too easily, but it just didn't feel like anything overly memorable or special.

I was thinking about it more today and I think the reason I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I'd wanted was that the stakes in this movie were just too high.

In Avengers they fight against and alien race who essentially wants to enslave humanity and they bring out all of the big guns.

In Thor 2 the existence of the entire universe hangs in the balance and no other heroes are around to help.

It just seems like the villain of the movie exceeded the superhero.

Not really. Take the original Iron Man movie: If Tony Stark fails, an amazing new weapon falls into the wrong hands. World continues to spin.

Iron Man 3: Tony Stark fails, world has new exploding evil super soldiers. World continues to spin.

Their battles always tend to deal with city, country, or world issues. Thor’s have generally dealt with Earth, Asgard, and the rest of the nine realms. Some of his better villains are either fellow gods , creatures of myth or world ending prophesies.

It’s been nice to see both movies address that scale with the frost giants and now the dark elves. It’ll be interesting to see how the whole Infinity Gems fit into the Marvel movies. All six of those collected make you the most powerful person in the universe(s). I don’t know how much of a bigger scale you could get than the gems.

That’s why I don’t think it’s out of the norm for the scale of consequences to be that big for a Thor movie, even compared to the Avenger’s movie. The Avengers took place on Earth, while both Thor movies took place on Earth and a few other realms. It made sense to me from that aspect.

I enjoyed it. I generally don't take the Thor movies too seriously given that it's about gods fighting each other over mystical artifacts from before time began.

I didn't understand exactly what that item that the alien crushed in his hand did. He was "The Cursed"? What did that mean? Why couldn't they give it to one of the smaller soldiers?

I've read this before also, and the way I see it the movie makes sense because of the time frame involved. There was no way for SHIELD or anyone else to detect an Avengers level threat to Earth until Malakath touches down in Greenwich, and in under an hour it's all over. Even if Iron Man scrambles from California the second the invasion happens, he still gets there at best in time to blast a few Dark Elf stragglers. Hulk, Cap, and the Helicarrier would take even longer.

In Avengers, the threat is clear from the moment the Tesseract is stolen, which is at least days before the climax.

Saw it and enjoyed it. Didn't take it too seriously which made it much easier to relax and be entertained. Also liked that final fight scene as they kept punching each other into different realms.

That character was based on a villain in the comics called Kurse. He was originally the same character in the movie, Algrim the Strong. So that's one "reason" why he had to be the one who transformed.

Going by what's seen in the movie, the stone they crush triggers the transformation, and it's implied that the transformation ultimately kills the elf who transforms. Presumably, not just anyone could survive the transformation or received the training required to be an effective Kursed warrior. So two reasons come up: Algrim was presumably the only remaining elf strong enough or sufficiently trained to be one of the Kursed, and Malekith needed someone to infiltrate Asgard who was capable of being a Kursed and also extremely loyal to the cause. Algrim fulfilled both those requirements.

liked it. better than the first. I like the whole teleporting b/t worlds thing with Thor and Two face dark elf and the hammer trying to get back to thor. the guy playing loki is still acting his off. I like the end credits telling infinity gems. Natalie Portman did seem a little off tho. most of characters didnt do shit.

everybody sitting down having an awkward meal after the shit hitting the fan should be a running gag in these Marvel movies much like Stan Lee cameos are.

Just watched it...enjoyed it. You always have to throw logic out the window with super hero movies...but you REALLY have to do it with Thor. At first I was like..."jesus christ, this shit is just ridiculous." But then I came on here and read this:

Couldn't agree more. I think all the actors they ended up with, across all of Marvel, fit great with their roles. I only didn't like Hawkeye, he was pretty terrible as an actor.

He has been really good in a few other movies, but as far as owning their character in the marvel cinematic universe, he is near the bottom. RDJ is iron man, Hemsworth works perfectly for Thor, every one else is pretty much pitch perfect, except for Renner. That's not to say he is terrible, but if there was a weak link so far, i would say it is him
