It looks interesting but I just can't see how intelligent apes could overcome a modern military. Even if they outnumbered us and struck really quickly, they just lack the technology and experience in war.

could you imagine the public outcry from PETA if we turned military weapons on those poor animals?

After watching the last trailer my impression is that the human population has taken a pretty massive blow due to the virus unleashed in the last movie...so their capability to use the full might of the military might be impaired?

^^^ our military can't handle guerrilla warfare (no pun intended...) very well, just look at afghanistan and iraq.

I don't find the premise that intelligent apes could overtake us that far fetched.

Yeah but the difference is that in Iraq and Afghanistan, our military was the invading force. I'm no expert on war but I'd think that guerilla warfare would only be effective if you are on the defense against an occupying force. I don't see how you could invade and mount effective offensives using only guerilla tactics, especially against a what I would assume to be a unified force of all humans combining everything they've got for survival.

Yeah, I agree.

When Caesar was addressing the humans at the colony for the first time it was a really quiet scene... then all of the sudden we hear, very loudly, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. HE TALKIN AN SHIT" She kept that up for like fifteen minutes before the manager of the movie theater politely came in and kicked her drunk self out.

Movie was good.

To the question of the apes overcoming our modern military, didn't some kind of flu wipe out half the human population or something?

I mean I got the feeling that as of the start of the movie human population was probably down to a thousandth of what it once was at most.

this movie was beyond retarded.

the apes using rifles with 30 round magazines, spraying and praying, and not carrying any extra mags. Ya, theyd win a war. Us humans fucking invented war. We been practicing war for 12,000 years, we are experts. Even a weakened humanity with modern weapons would destroy apes on a horse with rifles and one mag apiece.

the worst part of this movie, the worst fucking part, was that after 2 damn hours there was no plot resolution. the movie ends with pretty much the same situation. nothing was accomplished. no character development, no resolution. the situation is pretty much the same as it was in the beginning. some people want to kill the apes, some are good. some apes want to kill people, some are good.

I don't plan on seeing this. The whole premise just seems retarded. What red baron said here^ is largely what I thought was going to be in the movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed

I don't care to argue the finer aspects of war further than this, but it's not so difficult to imagine that an extremely large group of apes who are far stronger, quicker, faster, and more agile could overcome a bunch of untrained people with guns. The same thing happened in the first movie. If you hated this aspect of the first movie so much you probably shouldn't even be clicking on this thread

An ape that talks.

And we're complaining about how they only have 1 magazine?

BTW, the ability to speak language isn't just there because of intelligence. You also have to have the vocal chords to support it. That is why babies can sign before they can talk. They know words, just can't say them. I would expect the same to be true of these apes. Even if they were smarter, it isn't like they could just start talking, primarily due to their physiology.

They can all sign...some of them talk, but not as their primary communication device and it's not fluid like people...so what you're saying seems to be in line with what they did in the movie

Also some apes had box magazines instead of regular 30 round mags.

I don't understand why people keep using this argument in fictional movies. When a movie establishes a set of rules within its universe for what is considered "normal", then breaks those, it destroys the immersion and pulls you out of the movie. This universe has already made it well known that these are apes that are intelligent enough [and have the physiology] to talk. At no point does it show them getting extra ammo, reloading their rifles, aiming the rifles, or even observing humans enough to learn -- it therefore isn't plausible within the "rules" of the movie. If it had included a scene showing Koba watching how the humans handle/reload the rifles and then training his squad of apes to do the same thing, it would have kept it within the rules of the movie.

I dont understand how YOU dont understand? no one gives a shit when looking at a movie where you watch monkeys ride thru fire on horseback. sorry about it. Just enjoy it

Koba did watch the soldiers reload while they were testing the guns.

I think we can probably assume he taught them how to reload at the same time he was distributing the rifles and showed everyone how to fire them.

^^Obviously people DO give a shit or that argument wouldn't be used about every single fictional movie that has an irregular premise.

Is it that hard to just assume Koba trained them or do you have to be force fed scenes just so everything "makes plausible sense"?

Good CGI... but that's about it. Script sucked, plot holes abound (not in the sense of "monkeys can't talk", more like "how did C4 at the base of a building blow up a crane but that's it"), no characters really evolved. Ahh well. Glad i saw in theaters, otherwise this would have been a complete waste of time if i watched it at home.

Wait, you're glad you spent money and drove to watch a shitty movie rather than watching it for free at home with the ability to change the channel at any time?

there are plenty of "stupid" movies plot wise that are worth seeing in the movie theater because that makes them awesome (IE. pacific rim... which was a wholly dumb movie, but one of the greatest movies ever as well... because imax)

it's not a hard concept.

pretty movies are better in the movie theater than outside of it.
