My feet are essentially broken, and I cant walk on them for very long without quite a bit of pain in my heels, arches, ankles, and just behind my toes. Not to mention I have a torn ACL that has never been fixed, which gives me problems from time to time. I have no health insurance.

So until I start my new career, which should be in about 6 months, I need temporary work. I will be in classes MWF 9-1, so most full-time 9-5s are out for that reason. I'm great with people as I have been working in restaurants forever, and I think I could be pretty good in sales.

Any ideas? Anybody have any contacts?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Getting out of class at one puts you at a good time for nannying school aged children. Other than that the only jobs I would suggest for someone with that schedule would be retail or...waiting tables.


Although I see you are a culinary arts major. Have you checked in to those kids chef places? There is one at north hills where they teach kids to cook and have little cooking camps and stuff.

I did. I just dont know what kind of desk job starts at 2pm. Maybe a telemarketer. But school aged nanny might not be bad if you are just picking them up from school and then driving to other activities or helping with homework.

How do you not have insurance? I thought it was required for students and under Obamacare. Sounds like you need to get your health in order quite soon. Especially if you are in culinary arts, which I assume is a pathway to a career standing up in a kitchen.

First off, and I'm not saying this to be mean, but you should take a serious interest in your future. Your lack of knowledge on the most basic of things, such as healthcare and student loans, should a complete lack of effort on your part.

Don't think that a little information from a message board will help you, because you need to re-evaluate things completely and start getting serious about this shit. Take a few hours and research healthcare, student loans, and education.

^^ I work in manufacturing and I cannot imagine any place wanting a person that cannot walk for 6 months. Plus most manufacturing jobs worth having (i.e. ones with good hourly pay) are usually hard to get.

everything starts through the website i posted, which will start with a FAFSA. the financial aid office where you are in school can answer any other questions, but the process starts with the website i posted.

I'm not sure by what imaginary scale one would consider healthcare and student loans to be "basic." Also not sure how I'm somehow wrong in seeking infomation on these subjects from people with experiece rather than Google, but your post just reeks of arrogance, slackerb. Taking time out of your day to respond to my thread just to "call me out," yet being unable to offer any real information of your own is also pretty weak, and shows a lack of intelligence and time management on your part. Hope this helps you get your priorities straight.

That being said, thank for the FAFSA info dtownral. I have applied and am waiting to hear back from school on that issue, and whether I can be considered for a Pell grant.

Any other useful information on grants, loans, or open jobs would be appreciated!
