I have several folks I know who are looking for a reasonably priced class in the triangle or east area. at least 2-3 folks are looking for a class. Let me know if you have a class with openings, or know someone who does.

i'll second Rush. wife and i took his class about 4 years ago. great price and a great guy.

if they're towards the east, then i highly recommend Ken Edwards in Goldsboro. he owns this shooting range: http://www.encfiringrange.com/index_files/Page266.html which is where you'll do the firing portion. his contact info is at the link. he was a cop and is highly involved with the NRA. he knows the law very well.

They are out near middlesex/5 county stadium area, as am I. Thus goldsboro is about an hour out, but so is the wake county range, etc. Just trying to avoid having them get ripped off by the places that charge 100+ for the class

Cheapest I have found so far close to them is ~80 for the class, thus if they can do lower with a little bit of a drive its worth it, esp to not have a huge class size.

Just talked to the folks looking for the class, they REALLY want to find a class being offered Saturday, January 11th, as at least 2 of the 3 of them have the day free, and they want to go ahead and get the ball rolling on their paperwork sooner rather than later.

If you know of a class that has at least 2 open spots that day, pm me or call me at 919-809-9332 (GoogleVoice)

My neighbor is an instructor. They do the whole class in a day. I think they qualify at the Durham outdoor public range...

I took the class offered by fuquay gun and gold. I would recommended it. They use old rpd offficers with good stories to keep it interesting. It was $90 but they have a gun and ammo you can use so you don't have to worry about using your own.

I took Rush's class. The price was great because he offers a TWW discount. No complaints.

I will also vouch for Rush. AFAIK, Rush is passing some of his business to MaximaDrvr so pm him too. I can vouch for both of them.

Thanks for the support everyone. Since I know several of you refer me, I'd like to give an update on the classes.

What began as a way to make some extra cash on the weekends to help pay for grad school has turned out to be a successful business venture. As such, I've made several changes to the class since most of you took it with me.

Instead of teaching the class at my neighborhood clubhouse, I found a classroom location just a few miles from the shooting range. Much more convenient for everyone.

Breakfast, Lunch, coffee, water, and soda, etc are now included with the class.

I split up the class to where it is now taught by two instructors, each covering a four hour portion of the book learnin' part and then we have double coverage for the shooting portion. It allows us to give a better focus to the n00bs who are just getting into the sport/hobby.

I've teamed up with a couple other instructors (MaximaDrvr included) to expand the geographic footprint and offer additional course offerings. Once certifications are completed, we'll be offering basic classes to give more in depth instruction on fundamentals than concealed carry allows, and more advanced courses for those who wish to continue their training.

and lastly,

10% of all profits are now donated to the Jimmy V foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project as well as occasional other charities as their needs arise.

Any chance you could post the cost for just the basic CCP class? Also how much ammo does one need to bring and is their a specification for what kind to bring, or just whatever you usually shoot? Reason I ask is that I shoot primarily wadcutter reloads. Didn't know if I would have to shoot with something different. Sorry total n00b on the class part itself.

CHP class is $80. You need 30 rounds of ammo for the test (21 if you're really confident), plus practice rounds. Only restriction is no tracer rounds, just make sure you can hit your target.

awesome, Rush. let us know when you get advanced classes running.

Also, just a word of caution, there has been a lot of talk/speculation/etc. about WWP and how charitable it really is. I commend you on donating to charities, and just wanted you to know, in case you didn't, that WWP may not be all that it advertises itself to be. Now, I don't know if these accusations came from wingnuts or not (I didn't care to dig further, as I donate to a select view charities, of which WWP is not one), I've just heard some of the talk.

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely research that before making any further contributions. I've also been looking into the Fisher House, so that could be a viable alternative.
