Do any of you know if TSA will allow the use of a Nalgene bottle in lieu of a resealable plastic bag for carry-on toiletries and such?

They could probably be assholes about it if they wanted since it doesn't go by their regulation. But I also doubt most airports would give you much trouble. Plus I have seen several airports that keep spare plastic baggies.

some TSA employees take their job way too seriously!! You'd be better off putting your toiletries in a baggie and tying your empty Nalgene to your book bag or carry-on bag. You can fill it up at the water fountain once past security or buy a $4 bottle of water.

yeah they probably could have given me shit, but they're wholly inconsistent on their own policies. Security theater, like other theater is an act, some feature better actors than others.

I've never actually placed my toiletries in a plastic bag of any kind, carrying on or checking luggage.

I probably went through security 35-40 times last year and never once took out my toiletries. In fact last time I flew from Charlotte back to Denver I had a lunch bag full of 3 blocks of Neese's livermush to take back to Denver and they didn't give my bag a second look.
