With an engine swap? Yeah, probably fun then. Kinda ugly though.
As far as 70's compacts go I'd rather have a Pinto squire. Or, better yet, a Monza. (The fastback, not the odd town coupe.) 1/24/2014 1:24:13 AM |

yeah, my dad's got a 77 Gremlin, fucking awesome car no matter how much I hate a carburetor.
my ultimate Frankenstein is the 79 Eagle Kammback 4x4, with 77 gremlin front end swap, and probably an EFI LS engine mated to something like a T56 or 6l80e (depending on how the front wheel drivetrain goes together. 1/24/2014 10:38:06 AM |

I had forgotten that the '77-'78 Gremlin got a "nose job" compared with previous models. Haven't seen one like that in forever.
Your frankenstein there would confuse the hell out of AMC afficionados...it's a Gremlin...no, it's an Eagle...wtf??? Personally I like the reverse-curve quarter windows of the Gremlin, though the Kammback would have far better visibility (and a front sheetmetal swap is probably easer than trying to put the Eagle's suspension/AWD on the Gremlin, despite the platform being the same.) 1/24/2014 3:49:50 PM |

in some gremlins you could get a denim interior, win.
also one time i remember in the raleigh area there was a craigslist ad once where a guy was selling a lot of chevettes for 3500 bucks.
they were all in good driveable condition and he had one in each factory exterior color. i think all the interiors were black.
stands out in my mind because i seriously considered it. they all had about 40k miles and who knows how long those cars would have lasted. i saw myself driving various chevettes the rest of my life... 1/24/2014 3:53:16 PM |

i saw a drag racing gremlin on ebay once that had a built 401 in it.
some of them came with 304s and i believe all amcs use the same block architecture so it would drop right in.
at the bottom of the ad above the pictures it simply said "car drives straight if you have balls." 1/24/2014 4:46:51 PM |
