This game looks absolutely phenomenal! Its a Dark Souls-like experience (I am sure not exactly the same, just saying for comparison), however it is free to play and man I wonder is Capcom not gonna lets the micro-transactions ruin this game - all can think about are those smurf berries incidents with Apple! I personally just rather pay $60 for the game if it turns out to be as good as that gameplay demo suggest.

Capcom says you won't lose interest in the game because it will deliver "stable long-term services."

Capcom has provided new details regarding its upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive free-to-play console game Deep Down. On the Capcom website, deputy head of consumer games Yoshinori Ono explained the approach the game will take with regards to microtransactions and player engagement.
"When we develop an online game, we aim to create a game that allows people already playing it to continue enjoying it. At the same time, we try to avoid boosting the number of players just for the sake of getting new people to play," Ono said.
"The game Deep Down is provided free of charge, but players are required to pay for additional items and other game content," he added. "To ensure people playing the game don't lose interest, we will keep working to deliver stable long-term services."
Ono said Capcom hopes to offer a "large variety of content at reasonable prices" for Deep Down, but did not provide any specifics. This content is likely to be based on player feedback, Ono said.
"The best thing to do is monitor trends in the days immediately following a game's release, and then put out DLC which reflects these trends within a month," he said.
Deep Down is set in 2094 New York and runs on Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine. The game will feature procedurally generated dungeons that exist in a shared-world, similar to that of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

Capcom will ensure that nobody confuses its upcoming PS4 title with a PS3 game.
by Martin Gaston on February 7, 2014
Capcom's free-to-play online adventure Deep Down will be delayed so that Capcom can take full advantage of the PlayStation 4 hardware, the company has said.
While Deep Down has only been currently confirmed for release in Japan, the game was expected to go into beta roughly around the same time the PlayStation 4 launches in Japan on February 22.
"About Deep Down, I think we'll give full fledged information to everyone after the summer, so you may have to wait for a little while beyond the launch [of PS4] on February 22nd," said producer Kazunori Sugiura in Dengeki Online (translated via Dual Shockers)
Explaining the decision, Sugiura said that the team wants to take full advantage of the hardware inside the PS4. "Since we don't want to risk to be told ‘This could have been done on PS3!' we want to finish a game that fully uses the PS4 hardware specs."
Deep Down is set in 2094 New York, though the game has a Medieval aesthetic. The game is said to feature four-player co-op play with randomly generated dungeons." |
