the bicycle chain has been advertising half off their tunes ups so $50 for a basic tune up. not sure if it is still going on but it's worth checking into

If you cant replace a chain and adjust/replace brakes, you shouldnt be riding a bike. Beyond simple.

Durham Bike co-op will teach you how. Oak City Cycles might, I'm not sure how they work, but they do have work stands for rent. http://oakcitycycling.com/NCSU has a bike part of the DIY shop, the basic maintenance course is $15 bucks, I think. You may have to be a student.REI has regular bike maintenance courses. There's also some dude on CL, though I'd choose any of the above over sketchy CL ads.I should be in Raleigh later this week or early next week. If none of these options seem good to you, PM me. I'll make your bike happy in trade for some beer.

^^ That is the stupidest thing I've read all day. If you're going to make retarded assumptions and be generally unhelpful, you shouldn't be posting. Just keep lurking bro. "Can't" and "don't want to" are obviously two different things. Use your head for just one second.^ thanks man, I would be glad to trade some beer for a tune-up! PM sent!

You mad bro? This is literally a 10 minute job if you're even at all competent around a bicycle.I see nothing stupid about what I said. I can understand not wanting to do something versus not being able to do something. Fair enough. Glad you're a baller. Please refrain from tossing the phrase "retarded" around though. There are many TWW'ers in which that term hits too close to home. And who's lurking?[Edited on February 17, 2014 at 11:36 PM. Reason : .]
