I know, right? She admits in the link that she has a low sensitivity to mosquito bites and because of the number of bites it doesn't really itch; it just gets inflamed.

I've let a (single) mosquito feed completely and fly off on it's own before, the bite wasn't nearly as bad as when you smack them. The theory is that they suck more of the spit back out if you let 'em finish.

I used to tell my friends that my blood was poisonous to mosquitoes when I saw one on me. Then I'd let it feed until it was too fat to fly and watch that fucker flap its wings with fervor as it steadily sank to the ground.
