dictionary dot com says both are correct, but the primary one is with the 2 letter 'l's. i did not know that single l was also correct.
for some reason, when i see "cancelation", the appropriate pronunciation for that spelling that comes to my mind is kan-skuh-ley-shuhn 5/22/2014 7:45:25 PM |

According to random Internets, Americans are more likely to use one el: canceled, cancelation, canceling. The UK and others use two els. The AP Stylebook says:
