Honestly, I'd like to see Mitt run again...I've heard rumors, so it's valid for this thread. The country needs a middle-of-the-road candidate, and we aren't going to get that from Cruz, Paul, or any other tea party candidate. I'm tired of the tea party saying that the Republicans have to run far-right to win. That's BS.



Obviously I'd like to see Hillary bow out, but if she does, some new Obama type might come out of left field and sweep the Democrats off their feet. Maybe we can work the system and let Bill run again.

Guv of Maryland, decriminalized weed, got gay marriage to pass in a referendum, closed some prisons that were known to be shitty, had to do some delicate balancing to get Maryland's finances out of the recession.


I'd like to see Clinton, O'Malley, Schweitzer, and Warren in a debate, that's a pretty big range of views for just one party. They would probably make Clinton look like the moderate conservative that she is.

My picks would be Jon Huntsman or Gary Johnson. Ideologically, I'm between the two of them, but probably somewhat closer to Gary Johnson. Jon Huntsman wins points for being a real-world pragmatist and has the experience and proper presentation for the national/world stage (although Johnson would be fine on the latter part if he'd just dress the part).

Of course, all of that is moot; neither of them will be significant contenders if they even run again at all, and I will probably end up writing in "no confidence" or "none of the above" just like I have every time since 2000.

Between Climate Change, the impending AI revolution, and potentially disastrous inequality, I don't see how any of the normal conservative ideologies can be helpful to America in the upcoming years.

I'd go with Jeb Bush well before I would do Santorum, Ryan or Paul.

When I consider the dems, I have a hard time picking someone who interests me at the moment.

As long as someone isn't a bigot (i.e. advocate for 100% equality for homosexuals), has a comprehensive plan to reduce spending, and isn't a warhawk then they'll have a good chance to get my vote.

I hope that the D primary field will be relevant enough that I'll choose to vote in that one. There are plenty of people I would gladly vote for over Hillary.

If Huntsman (or someone like him) is viable, I'll vote in the R primary. I agree that the Republican primaries matter more, due to their ongoing slow self-destruction. The problem is that most of their candidates are equally bad.

Huntsman puts on a nice socially progressive act, but his economic policy is no different than any current establishment Republican. He's a slightly less offensive Romney.

I would hope for someone with a scientific or engineering background to be our next President, but there is basically no chance of that ever happening.
