Reveal on Tuesday.
For those not in the know, this will be the latest iteration of a Mercedes-AMG supercar after the SLS, which succeeded the SLR. I do wish they had chosen a less generic name!
MB has said in the recent past that it will be the most beautiful MB ever, which is quite a lofty statement considering MB has built some seriously beautiful cars in its history. From all accounts and teasers, it will be a reincarnation of the 300SL Gullwing, design-wise.
MB has definitely out-teased the hell out of it for the past few months, but I am still very excited about the reveal. All that's left to see is the shapes of the lights, rest has been more or less revealed in the teaser videos and pics, albeit, with camouflage paper covering the bodywork.

Engine and performance details:
Quote : | "It's a brand new twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter motor set to produce 462 PS (340 kW) in the base model and 510 PS (375 kW) in the AMG GT-S. The same engine will also be installed the upcoming C63 AMG where it will likely have a different output.
Smaller, lighter and cheaper than the SLS AMG, the GT will need 3.8 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in the S version which will be capable of hitting a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h). Mercedes-Benz and AMG are saying the vehicle will have "insane acceleration" combined with "go-kart handling" all wrapped around in the "purest possible design" that aims to be on par with the stunning 300SL Gullwing." |
I am not gonna complain and say that 510 hp is low compared to the SLS and other contemporary GT supercars, but the demarcation between the base and S models does need to be more pronounced, as in 462 hp and 540 hp, or 430 hp and 510 hp.

Hehe, sure.
First it's not really a successor to the SLS, as that car is on a whole different level than what this one is designed for. It's a smaller car with a smaller engine, so hopefully it will weigh less than the SLS did. Asking for it to weigh in similar to the Z06 and Viper isn't asking too much IMO.
Interesting that it's design is heavily inspired by the 300SL because, unlike the SLS, this car will NOT have gullwing doors. I hope it's a beautiful car but given Mercedes' recent preference for cars with huge blunt noses I'm not going to hold my breath.
This car's true competition are the upper level 911 variants, i.e. GT3, Turbo, etc. I didn't know the reveal was Tuesday, so that's something to look forward to I suppose.
And yeah, the name sucks. Though, still a better name that LaFerrari, if you ask me 9/8/2014 8:45:17 AM |

47:53 weight distribution 7 speed dual clutch transmission double wishbone suspension front and rear first hot V engine to be equipped with dry sump lubrication all engines built by hand (as per usual AMG) 3300 lb weight target (no official weight yet, though it's stated that the body shell weighs 509 lbs) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires are optional (shows they fully intend this car to be tracked by owners)
I really liked the previous AMG supercar, the SLS, but it was always too heavy. This one looks pretty amazing to me, all around. Looks to start at around $120k...ick.

I like it. Maybe because it doesn't look like the current crop of Mercedes. 9/10/2014 9:56:09 PM |

I think the latest S and C class sedans look fantastic. But the CLA, S class coupe, E class, CLS and especially the SL leave much to be desired

120k seems like great pricing. I'm hoping they get the price as low as possible to force down the GT4 price 9/15/2014 8:51:21 AM |
