I'm troubleshooting an issue we seem to be having between our CDN and TW Telecom (our office's ISP). If someone else on TW Telecom in the RTP area could run a few download tests from a browser and wget/mtr on linux, that would be great. We're seeing intermittent packet loss and subsequently slow downloads on one hop of the path - 108.161.186.2. Our backup connection with AT&T seems fine. Even those not on TW Telecom can help, I guess.
What I'm looking for: 1) Which datacenter you're hitting, from here: http://108.161.188.224
2) Average download speed from a browser for this ~70MB User Guide. http://extrcdn.extremenetworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/ExtremeXOS-15.5-User-Guide.pdf
3) Average speed from this:
wget http://extrcdn.extremenetworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/ExtremeXOS-15.5-User-Guide.pdf 4) Output from this (you can hide the first few hops if you'd like)
mtr --report --report-cycles 50 108.161.188.224 Any help would be much appreciated.

1) You are hitting the MaxCDN Virginia Datacenter
2) Visual estimate: ~3 MB/s in Chrome
3) 2014-09-12 13:09:19 (2.88 MB/s) - “ExtremeXOS-15.5-User-Guide.pdf” saved [69143170/69143170]

RDU1.ALTER.NET being Verizon/Verizon Business and my onramp; I stripped out their switch/port name and my external and all internal IP addresses.
Hope that's helpful!

^Perfect! Thanks. Interesting that you're seeing loss on alter.net, but glad (in a way) to see loss on the 108.161.186.2 address. 9/12/2014 1:52:47 PM |
