I figured i'd go ahead and kick off this thread.

Biggest storyline will be to see who comes out of the east. Cleveland or Chicago. West will be a tossup at this point IMO.

It'll be interesting to see if Kobe can bounce back or if he'll just be average now.

The stories coming out about Kobe and no one wanting to play with him are great. Hope the Cavs are able to gel and run train on the East. I pretty much just root for LBJ when it comes to the NBA. I'll be following TJW a lot this season as well. Go Suns too.

How are the Cavs gonna run train in the East when they can't stop Big Al, and Lebron is too distracted by Lance blowing in his ear

Lol kobe is far below average now. You'll never see him play meaningful minutes again probably. He's a fringe rotation player at best on a bad playoff team .

Lakers figure to be the worst team in the NBA besides philly.

seems like one of those years where a fresh team will win the title, kind of like the yr the mavericks won, I'd prob go with the thunder but the clippers would be neat too

went to a Nets/Sixers game a few days ago. both teams suck. the Sixers REALLY suck. that's one of the worst rosters I've ever seen. I think Kentucky would beat them this year.

This is the comment of an idiot. Do you think Alabama would beat the Raiders this year too? UK would probably lose by 50 to the Sixers. Philly isn't even making an effort to be competitive because they are rebuilding. Oh, and it was preseason, so you're not even seeing normal rotations, guys aren't playing if they have anything wrong with them, coachers are still evaluating talent, etc.

Some questions I'm interested in seeing answered this season:

Will the Lakers have the worst record in the league?

Is this the year Chicago breaks through or do the Cavs gel faster than most teams?

Will Westbrook finally get some credit for being a top 10 player or will people bitch about him shooting too much while Durant is out?

Will the Heat make the playoffs?

With Durant out for the start of the season will Anthony Davis finally get some love as the best all around player in the league not named Lebron?

Is this finally the year that the Spurs run out of gas?

This is going to be a great season, the West is going to be bananas and the East is going to be a very interesting 2 horse race.

The West has been dominant for a REALLY long time. Power shifted to the East, briefly, but even that didn't last. Crazy that two sub-.500 teams might make the East playoffs, and three or more plus-.500 teams will miss them in the West.

I think it's no where close to the same pressure. every game Miami lost that first year it was on CNN breaking news.

they wont gel at first. they wont win any games w/o Lebron playing well. like every team he's on.

They're gonna take a while to learn their way, but they're gonna be a good team. Lebron was obviously overcome by the moment last night. He played nothing like the Lebron we know. Love looked good, Kylie looked ok but could be better. The moment overcame the cave last night. Now basketball has begun for them and they have slots learning to do

Good lord, Westbrook out for a while now too. Thanks for breaking his hand, Perkins. As if OKC fans needed more reason to hate Perk.

Thunder are going to be lucky to get the 6 seed in the West now, forget about having any kind of shot at home court. The best part is going to be watching them try to talk KD into coming back to soon and having him re-injure his foot and miss the remainder of the season.

Cavs looked good tonight on the road agains the Bulls. This rebounding performance was no fluke, the Cavs are going to be incredible on the boards, but their defense is going to be a little shaky, IMO.

Rose tweaked his ankle, fortunately not a knee. He's going to be injured on and off all year, get ready Bulls fans, he'll probably only play 55 games or so this year and he's not going to avg. more than 30 min. Just hope the injuries don't come at the wrong time.

So, definitely a 2 horse race in the East, down to a 2 horse race for the 1 seed in the West now, but probably 5 different teams could win the West when it's all said and done.

I didn't know about that for westbrook. sucks. good thing it's early in the year. I'm telling you right now for Rose, it's a wrap. wont last the whole season

Cavs is an excellent rebounding team. that's the only thing most of those bamas can do. hustle.

Miami won a champion being the worst rebounding team in the league. no one of the worse. THE worst. That was will always be unbelievable to me.

lets not count out the other teams in the east jsut yet. cleeveland has looked good on the boards but have not looked dominant overall. i know you guys are assuming they will but then we also have to wait and see how the hornets wizaards pacers and heat develop.

cmon. they lost to the frieaking knicks and the bulls basically had them beat last night without noah rose and butler down the stretch. don't crown them yet.

kd and westbrook being out early might keep them more fresh for the playoffs.

They were only able to do that by being one of the most offensively efficient teams in league history and by playing stifling perimeter defense.

The crazy thing is that this Cleveland team could be even better offensively. Maybe not this year, but once they get and get the rotation and roles of the bench guys sorted, look out. Really, all they need Tristan Thompson and Verajo to do is rebound and play a little bit of defense. Scoring is going to be so effortless for this team it's ridiculous.

The Pacers are a lottery team this year, so I'm going to go ahead and count them out. They have no one who can score the basketball. If they were in the West they wouldn't win 20 games.

Wizards could be legit contenders for the 1 seed in the East, maybe. I'd like them better if they still had Ariza. The Hornets are a playoff team, but they aren't in the same class as the Bulls and Cavs. The Heat are counting on D. Wade playing 70 games this year. Not gonna happen.

I mean, there are a bunch of 40-45 win teams in the East and then there's Chicago and Cleveland. I'm not saying the Cavs win the title this year, but there are so many easy wins in the East and they'll get up for games against the Bulls and against Western conference opponents. They'll win 55 games this year and maybe touch 60.

Quote :

That's one possibility. The other more likely scenario is that when you have to rely on Serge Ibaka and Jeremy Lamb to carry the scoring load for 25 games you're going to end up with, at best, a 10-15 record over that stretch. Now, you're 17 games under .500 and you have to rip off something like 40 wins out of your last 55 to make the playoffs, and that's not happening without both KD and Westbrook playing huge minutes once they come back.

This injury to Westbrook took them out of title contention, IMO and may even jeopardize them making the playoffs.

This.

Davis has had a monster first couple of games. I mean, he's not going to average 30pts, 16reb, 6blks, and a PER of 40 for the year, but he'll put up incredible numbers. If the Pelicans make the playoffs in the West and he puts up something like 25, 12, and 4 blocks with a PER of 26 he could legitimately win the MVP.

With KD out for the start of the season and Lebron playing fewer minutes and quite probably being more of a facilitator this year it could be the first of many MVPs for The Brow.
