Here is my link my car. I know that it won't get sold here, but need feedback on what is reasonable price. KBB, NADA aren't realistic for a car that is 15 years old w/ 250,000.

I don't know VA's inspection rules, but I find it hard to believe they'll pass that car even though it fails smog. When was the last time the CEL was checked? There could be more codes being thrown. Anywho. Good luck with the sale. That kind of mileage and with a CEL on, you might find it hard to sell it at $1,500.
A car that old with that many miles is on the verge of needing a lot of sensors replaced. Or maybe thats just my experience talking since I bought a 1997 econobox with 188k miles on it and have replaced almost everything around the motor

We have only been up here a couple of months; because we had a current NC emissions inspection, we got a one year exemption. It's not that difficult to beat a smog test, even with a CEL on. 11/22/2014 10:12:18 PM |

but in NC it wont pass at ALL if a CEL is on...for anything.
If you get 1k for it...let it roll.
with lights, that many miles and all...id let it go 11/23/2014 12:47:45 PM |

If you spend a certain amount of money to fix the problem, and the problem doesn't get fixed, you can get an exemption. But the amount of money is, I think, something like $500, probably not worth it on a car with that many miles and at that age to begin with. 11/23/2014 7:57:25 PM |

$200, year after year it works too. Just prove you spend $200 trying to fix it and they will let it roll 11/23/2014 8:20:50 PM |

Depends on the county/city. Where I live they don't do emission testing, so as long as the light isn't on when you go for the inspection, you're fine. I know that's not the case up around DC though, as they do use obd-ii testing there.12/11/2014 11:21:27 PM |

my 2001 Accord is becoming a real burden
the transmission is slipping and the airbags have been recalled
it has something like 168,000 miles on it though
how much do y'all reckon I could get for it? 1/1/2015 7:16:51 PM |

I think some of the civics and accords from that time are prone to some transmission problems, but in general 168,000 miles on an Accord should be nothing. My wife has an '01 Civic with 150,000 and I'm hoping to get 50k. For the airbag, she just brought hers in recently and they replaced it for free seeing as it is a safety recall.
If those are the only two issues, I'd get the transmission looked at and have them replace the airbag in the same visit before considering a new car. Obviously if you are having other issues then it's a different story. 1/1/2015 10:02:06 PM |

I took it to a shop and they told me I might want to consider looking at buying a new car this car was part of a transmission recall, I think, but my sister owned it during that time and now it isn't eligible
it needs two motor mounts replaced also but as far as the tranny is concerned I think the fly wheel is slipping between 1st and 2nd
it will run about $4k to put a new transmission in
do you know anywhere that might be able to rebuild the transmission for cheaper? 1/2/2015 6:14:09 PM |

A lot of people say dauntless transmissions off Glenwood is a good transmission shop, not sure about how cheap. 1/4/2015 1:14:57 PM |

$4k for a transmission is ridiculous. 3/2/2015 12:05:27 AM |

engine mounts were also a recall issue.

I have a 2002 w/ the 5MT. It runs like a top aside from the fact that the heat sucks and the paint is non existent. Wish I had the cash to get rid of it and pick up something else. 3/3/2015 12:24:27 AM |

Yeah my transmission didn't go out until 210,000+ miles but EVERY SINGLE TIME I took it to any shop the first thing that would get brought up is if I had to replace the transmission yet.3/3/2015 1:59:24 PM |
